Received Monday of this week, but because I had two Jerry Carino articles it's being posted today so the info is a few days old.
Top Targets
Earl Timberlake – The 4-star SG/SF is emerging as one of the nation’s top recruits. He has already visited Providence (official) and South Carolina (unofficial) and he is working on visits to SHU, Alabama, Pittsburgh and Louisville. Not in any rush to make a decision but SHU has positioned themselves nicely. Too early to make a prediction
Darius Maddox – SHU is in great shape with Maddox following his recent weekend visit and could be close to securing a commitment from the 4-star shooting guard. Tony Skinn’s relationship with him should end up trumping any other factors for the elite two way shooting guard.
Neils Lane – SHU got in a bit late for the talented 2 way shooting guard but following a visit last week, they are a major player. Other top schools are Florida, Xavier and Providence but SHU made a major impression on the 6’5 guard. Lane is not in a particular rush to make a decision, but SHU will be a factor here as things progress.
Posh Alexander – The now 3-star point guard has seen his stock drop due to injury in the past year, but SHU has not slowed down their pursuit and all signs point to SHU still being the favorite for the dynamic athlete. It will be interesting to see what SHU does here, but they likely could secure a commitment from Posh this summer.
RJ Davis – SHU was involved early for the 4-star combo guard who has blown up in the past few months and are still in decent position. However, Davis is taking his time and seeing his stock rise day after day. I wouldn’t say SHU leads here, in fact they may be slipping a little, but they are still a player.
Mathew Alexander-Moncrieffe – I am hearing that quietly SHU has positioned themselves as a major player for the supremely talented two-way wing from Canada and they are a top choice along with Florida. Moncrieffe’s upside is off the charts and SHU is looking to continue their Canada connection after landing Tyrese Samuels from the same school last year.
Noah Farakkhan – Farrakhan will likely transfer back to New Jersey for his senior year of high school and SHU along with Florida may be the front runners right now. His ranking has dropped this spring despite solid play but the dynamic point guard is a big time talent. With him coming home to New Jersey most likely, SHUs chances only increase.
Woody Newton – Newton was one of SHUs top targets but the 4-star forward committed to Syracuse a few weeks ago
Justin Lewis – The 4-star forward from Maryland is a great athlete and SHU is involved due to Tony Skinn. While they are involved, I see Lewis ending up at either Maryland, UConn, Marquette or Virginia Tech.
Cliff Omoruyi – SHU loves the 4-star center’s game and they are trying hard, but with the national powers getting involved recently, they are likely out of the picture. When it is all said and done, I see Cliff ending up at Kentucky.
Elijah Hutchins-Everett – A long athletic center from New Jersey that SHU likes a lot, Hutchins-Everett is still early in the process. A ton of schools are involved here and it’s too soon to say too much.
Others to Watch
Donte Houston – A 3-star power forward from Texas, Houston is someone SHU is keeping tabs on as are a few schools, including Houston. Right now, he is not a take, but depending on how things shake out SHU could work to close him. He is a tremendous defender, rebounder and shot blocker with an emerging offensive game.
Jahari Long – At 6’4, The 3-star Texas point guard is a dynamic two way player with an improving jump shot. Having recently completed an official visit to SHU, they are now a major factor and with all the other elite guards SHU is involved with, they have an interesting decision to make. I am not willing to say SHU could close Long with one phone call, but if they really pushed him he would likely end up a Pirate.
Elijah Taylor – The 3-star power forward from Pennsylvania is right on the cusp of being a top target and is someone SHU has been after for awhile. He hasn’t been that open about his recruitment so it is hard to get a feel but SHU is still involved here.
Dimingus Stevens – Stevens took a visit to Seton Hall a few weeks ago and he is currently a plan B target at shooting guard, albeit a supremely talented one. Known for his ability to shoot the ball, SHU along with Virginia Tech, Temple, Maryland and Boston College are the main players here right now.
K.D. Johnson – SHU is in the final four for the 6-foot-2 Georgia PG along with Auburn, Georgia and Georgia Tech but I am not sure how realistic of a target he is. The connection is Tony Skinn but it is hard to say where he ranks on the board compared to the other top targets at guard.
Kadary Richmond – SHU offered the 3-star small forward from New York and are keeping a close eye on him. I think a lot would have to happen for him to end up at SHU, but he can really play and is only getting better week by week.
Keondray Mongomery – Montgomery is very similar to Johnson in that SHU is in his final group and he is a Tony Skinn connection but I am not sure how likely it is for the 4-star small forward to end up at Seton Hall. He is worth keeping an eye on but as of now I would not expect him at SHU.
Zed Key – SHU has offered the 3-star New York power forward and he is in a similar boat to Kadary Richmond at this time, although his stock is picking up a bit faster. He has a couple high major offers but right now, I don’t see him at SHU.
New Offers
Hassan Diarra – SHU just offered this supremely talented 4-star PG and I expect them to become a major factor for him, although Dayton, Indiana and Georgia currently are his top choices. The next few weeks will be crucial in gaining traction here so definitely keep an eye on him if he makes a trip to campus or not.
Jonathan Aku – SHU just offered the 4-star center today and to be honest, I have no clue what level of interest he will have in SHU. He has some impressive offers so lets see if he takes the next step and visits Seton Hall.
