Many of us probably remember the multiple years that SHU coaches and Rutgers coaches recruited a HS and postgraduate prospect named Kareem Canty. There were many comments by the gurus of this board that
Canty was not a high major player and could not contribute meaningful value at the BE level.
The SHU and Rutgers coaches were considering Jevon Thomas in the same previous years. Many similar comments were made about Thomas, when he was finishing HS.
Canty has become the best player on an SEC team as a junior. Check his stats out. He has a bunch of 20 point games with decent stats in.other areas also.
Canty as well as Thomas are great examples of NY players who were under appreciated as prospects. I sure wish we had Canty, as he would be a great addition to our very thin back court depth this year.
However, it is great to know that we have Thomas waiting in the wings for next year, as the production from Jevon should be at least as good as from Canty, on a per minute basis.
