Talked extensively on chemistry, keeping everyone on the same page and managing the locker room. Much more so than strategy, game plan, etc. Also talked about continuing to improve. He said there are 2-3 teams in the MAAC that Monmouth has to overcome.

It was an interesting point. At first I didn't know if he meant on-court chemistry, but it was clear that's not what he was referring to. Talked about the influence of parents, old coaches, friends, girlfriends etc getting in player's heads and losing focus (who's playing how many minutes, taking the most shots, etc, sounded pretty familiar unfortunately).

Wish I'd heard that interview. The only thing I'd heard about Rice previously was a couple of posts on this board saying he was a Gonzo-class wild man.

Mike Rice is extremely well spoken and likable in an interview.

I know zero about King Rice the person other than what I've read in some local articles. He's from the same town as Bobby Gonzalez and they go back.

Regardless of his personality or anything, he's doing an impressive job down there (KP ranking):

2011-12 = 12-20, #265
2012-13 = 10-21, #313
2013-14 = 11-21, #272
2014-15 = 18-15, #182
2015-16 = 7-3, #55

Yes, I know. My point was that if a guy does a good job on the radio, he can still be nuts.

Reminds me of one my favorite accounts of Gonzo. This was again unearthed and dusted off recently when Hobbs was hired at Rutgers...

"Nobody's gonna tell me how to run my [expletive] program. Not you, not Monsignor, not Joe Quinlan. This is my [expletive] program. My [expletive] program," Gonzalez raged, according to court papers filed by Seton Hall.

So, was that Gonzo tirade directed at Hobbs?

Sounds like it, HallLine69. But who knows. Could've been screamed in the middle of the Rec Center for all know with Bobby, LMAOOOOO
