NEW YORK – Kyra Kreuscher (Great River, N.Y.) has been named BIG EAST Pitcher of the Week, the conference announced on Monday afternoon. This marks the first Pitcher of the Week honor for Kreuscher in her career.
Kreuscher dominated in both of her outings over the weekend against Syracuse, working nine innings of shutout softball and allowing just two hits. Her highlight came in Sunday's series finale against the Orange, where the sophomore tossed a two-hit complete game shutout in the 1-0 victory. The shutout was Kreuscher's second so far this season and also marked the fourth of her career. The sophomore also worked two hitless innings in relief during Saturday's second game of the doubleheader.
Kreuscher and the Pirates return to action on Friday at 2 p.m. as they begin a crucial three-game series against UConn.
