Here is the next installment of the Left Coast Pirates. As we wrap up a beyond frustrating first 11 games, we discuss…
  • Where does the Monmouth loss rank on Mt. Rushmore of Seton Hall losses?
  • How does the program need to adjust top down?
  • How many games can the Hall win in BE play?
  • Plus much more.
Not going to promise it’s the best episode of LCP yet, but we still hope you give it a listen and enjoy. 😉

Spot on with the resources needed to recruit + raise funds in NIL Era.

"Small at the Hall" made me chuckle. Always seems like the administration has been happy being on the fringes of relevancy.

I think the Mount Rushmore of losses happens when you have a decent to good team and you lose to an FDR or Manhattan. Although Monmouth is bad, not sure about the talent gap at this point.

The Hofstra loss was pretty bad too, although not a Mount Rushmore.

One other point is I do think it would be a lot different at 8-3 instead of 5-6. We wouldn’t be #184. We’d have a legit pulse for the postseason and probably a bit of a better non-conf resume than last year with the VCU win if it holds.

You’d have hope. Hope is life at The Hall!

(Home) St. Peter’s #231
(Home) Fordham #194
(Home) Wagner #297
(Neutral) Hofstra #178
(Neutral) VCU #62
(Neutral) Vanderbilt #54
(Neutral) FAU #84
(Home) Monmouth #308
(Home) NJIT #352
(Home) OK State #95
(Away) Rutgers #83

You're not wrong about the feeling of being 8-3 but not sure it would help once the committee gets together.

I think what @Piratz is saying is we would still have hope if we won those close games against inferior comp and be sitting at 8-3 with the potential for improvements during the season. We would still have a putrid, disjointed offense, and same uneven parts but if the core guys step up big time and have a respectable BE record this year, we would have had a chance. Now even if we are 14-4 in conf (which ain’t happening) we still might not get in👎.

Hope keeps us going to games, hope helps with NIL, hope helps with recruiting/publicity/retention. At 8-3 we would have been in a better position in OOC than last year.

While it’s not all on Sha, he doesn’t seem to value the OOC as much as he should, as well as working with media, running up the score in games vs inferior comp, etc.

With the season essentially ever (unless we win the big east tourney) is super depressing before the big east conf games even start 😞

There have been so many bad and heartbreaking losses over the years in games with the highest stakes (NCAAT, BET), but the one that I put atop the list is the 2020 home finale with Villanova.

Maybe sounds random but opportunities to clinch an outright BE title on your home floor with the placed juiced on Senior Night do not come around often and it was such a missed opportunity for an all-time memorable moment.

U of M in 89 is the permanent fixture
The other 3 are part of a rotation - I agree with you on that loss to Nova, losing the BET game to Nova by not securing a rebound, and the NCAA loss to Arkansas still sticks in my craw. Alternate would be the Louis Orr team losing 2 Duke on 2 free throws very late in the game.

As far as embarrassing losses, we have at least 2 this year, and the last loss to Fordham, at Walsh, I was there for!

You can definitely make a case for that game.

To me it didn’t make the heartbreak category because we just lost to another good team. Nova was still ranked #14 at the time. They didn’t play a bench, but their starting 5 was no slouch, Gillipse, Robinson-Earl, Moore, Bey, and Samuels. Only 4 out of 5 guys to go on to play in the NBA.

The Hall never had a lead in the second half, trailed by double digits at several junctures, and were down by 10 with 2:28 before Nova uncharacteristically missed a bunch of FTs down the stretch. The game never felt as close at the final 2 point margin.

Ran out of time, but we could have easily done a Mt. Rushmore of missed opportunity moments as well.
