Strengths:
His specialty is rebounding the ball and that's a niche that translates to any level. He'll rebound both out of his area as well as in traffic and puts up tremendous numbers as a result on a per/minute basis. He's got all the physical tools with good size, athleticism, and a strong body. He runs and finishes, plays within himself offensively, and is active and mobile on the defensive end.

Weaknesses:
It's not so much a weakness as it is a limitation of his potential role, but right now Delgado is a rebounder, finisher, and defender - in that order - and struggles when trying to be more than that, especially on the offensive end where he can throw in a jump hook every now and then but lacks the footwork or skill set to be more of a scoring option.

Bottom Line:
The fact that he came out of nowhere to become a high-major prospect virtually overnight is testament enough that when you're one of the best rebounders in the country, you're going to have your choice of college suitors.

Angel had an uneven season. He struggled mightily early probably as a result of playing for his country in the Pan American games which forced him to be away from SHU and summer practice sessions. Kevin Willard said as much last November when asked about Delgado. Then he said he's clearly behind the rest of his teammates and has a lot of catching up to do.

As the season progressed Seton Hall fans started to see the Angel Delgado they remembered from his previous year when the talented Dominican player won the league's Rookie of the Year award.

That said Angel never really dominated as expected. Partially a result of the guard dominance of Whitehead and Carrington in the offense.

Still Delgado averaged a near double double. No small feat considering he didn't shoot that much from the field and had board help from his teammates unlike the prior season when he was sometimes left on an island on the interior.

Angel is an average defensive center at best. He's not a shot blocker and doesn't protect the rim well on penetration. Some of that of course is due to not having a quality backup meaning he must be on the court as often as possible and not be as aggressive as needed on D.

To his credit Delgado did vastly improve on his pick and roll defense and got better with his help D as well.

Angel developed a nice 15 foot jump shot adding to his offensive arsenal and did improve on his ghastly freshmen foul shooting boosting his average from 41.4% to 53.6%.

My take is Angel deferred too much to his teammates on offense. Partially his fault, partly the staff's fault and partly his teammate's fault. This coming season I expect that to change. Especially if Whitehead leaves for the NBA.
