Typical. If you can’t play the race card; play the sexism one. So lame.Sad the anti female athlete agenda on this site, I am sure some of you had daughters
come on man. this is not the hill to die on. the product sucks, you cant force people to watch or care. it has nothing to do with them being women. theyre probably equivalent to the phillipines mens national team. would anybody watch that league? no.Sad the anti female athlete agenda on this site, I am sure some of you had daughters

people dont even watch the d league who actually have nba players in them.
the only reason wnba survives is to push the female agenda and insert gender into a space that doesnt need it. without the nba throwing an absurd amount of money at it the league would have folded 20 years ago.
spk is right, there probably were maybe a hundred more viewers, and i can guarantee they were all gamblers now that sports betting is ramping up.
the old saying still rings true. im a massive die hard sports fan but id rather get $5 than my wnba team winning a championship.
Does the WNBA make money?I agree it isn't really a good product especially compared to the NBA, but if the NBA didn't see potential to sell the product then it would be gone. They aren't operating a non-profit... and to be fair, if you watch now compared to 20 years ago, their product has gotten much better.
Funny you post total con artist colin cowherd in response to this. Not true. They simply caved to liberal pressure. Talk to any c suite exec and the amount of time they spend on those issues is disproportionate to other issues.I agree it isn't really a good product especially compared to the NBA, but if the NBA didn't see potential to sell the product then it would be gone. The league has yet to turn a profit after 23 years. Just because you think it’ll make money doesn’t mean it will. NBA has deep pockets and I can understand why it would be a good will write-off.I wouldn’t know their full details, but they aren’t around to lose money. Someone believes they will eventually be profitable and if they no longer believed that, there would be no more WNBA.
i dont love him but he articulates it well. its very simple. people make what people want. you dont see neccos and good n plenti commercials every halloween do you? you should be ecstatic the nba has promoted this corpse for years. because it surely doesnt deserve it. nba going above and beyond, giving special preferential treatment for women when they dont deserve it. nba should be praised by you.Funny you post total con artist colin cowherd in response to this. Yeah, that was my point. They are fine with the loss because it helps their image. But since the product has lost money for over two decades is pretty darn good proof that the consumer is not buying tar product. But there is a reason they are there. Maybe they want a loss, maybe they want the good will in the area, or maybe they believe the product will eventually be profitable. The league exists because of a benefit (or future benefit) to their owners.
What about MLS? Why does that league exist? Their ratings are horrible and they aren’t turning a profit either.

If that’s the case, then they suck at it. I doubt the original business plan said “we’ll be profitable in 30 years”....But they recently changed the ownership structure and have been marketing differently and now in more targeted markets and had some success improving ratings.
It's not a philanthropic venture. Their goal is to make money.
It was the most watched TV program of the night. Yes off the mark of a typical time in June when it would air.Where’s your post on viewership of Game 1 of the NBA Finals?
So wnba has the best former us collegians that played in recent modern history and foreign super talents. Sure there isnt dunking or same athleticism but the best are equally as skilled to the men counterparts in dribbling, passing, play making and shooting. Wnba players have made up olympic gold medal teams since 1996.tv doesnt let some shows air for more than a few weeks, wnba gets a 20 yr grace period? cmon. arent most people here from stillman?
the wnba is absolutely a philanthropic image tactic. 20 years is 10x more proof than you need. it sucks. no other major sport is offering a womens version.
yea in 1000 years eventually youll be right.... actually probably not with wnba. i bet esports nba beats out wnba first. id bet everything i own on it
That’s a great rant, but an enormous deflection. No one is saying they aren’t talented athletes...they are, just as the Women’s Soccer League. So wnba has the best former us collegians that played in recent modern history and foreign super talents. Sure there isnt dunking or same athleticism but the best are equally as skilled to the men counterparts in dribbling, passing, play making and shooting. Seton Hall women's program would kill to have have a caliber talent that can be a rotation player on a wnba roster.
I believe they have 60 mil dollar revenue as a league but their former BRI was 20 to 30 percent, now its 50 percent i believe.
yes they play an abbreviated schedule to nba and also in spring/summer which in past has allowed players out of neccesity to play overseas for more money. Yes individual clubs have lost money. Yes franchises have moved cities or folded.
They competed against ABL back in day, ABL left.
Would a fair narrative here be that the US Women's National Soccer team is pretty damn good? Yet, the top stars of that team and best international players have struggled to sustain success in multiple pro soccer leagues US based in last 2 decades.
I believe it is good for adolescent females to see this product and for it to have advocacy and support.
Because soccer is the worlds most popular sport and as more and more people come to America they hope it takes off.But there is a reason they are there. Let's break this down because at LOTS we try not to teach stupid. In a broadcast TV model in a typical year, all series that launched an 18 to late 20 episode season across network TV would typical end by third week in May. The NBA Finals typical air and begin in the week after Memorial Day.
In this instance, network TV is back with fresh shows vs in June when it would be in repeats.
Big Brother and Masked Singer combined for 10.7 million viewers last night. NBA still won the night. Less than their typical audience. Also if Dragic and Bam are out this wont be much of a series or a long series.
Because soccer is the worlds most popular sport and as more and more people come to America they hope it takes off.
the best are not equally as skilled by a gigantic margin, the nba mens talent level playing against each other is the highest concentration of talent in any sport , maybe top level soccer. So wnba has the best former us collegians that played in recent modern history and foreign super talents. and mls has been starting to ramp up signing international legends (after their prime) which has shown to increase draw. rumors of messi to nyc already begun. imagine if they sign someone during their prime. i can actually name soccer players. i cant name any wnba players not one and im a huge sports fanBecause soccer is the worlds most popular sport and as more and more people come to America they hope it takes off.
you dont know Diana Taurasi, Sue Bird, Elanna DelleDonne, Britney Griner, Sabrina Ionescu, Liz Cambage, Aja Wilson?...i dont follow NHL at all can still name 5 of the top talentand mls has been starting to ramp up signing international legends (after their prime) which has shown to increase draw. rumors of messi to nyc already begun. imagine if they sign someone during their prime. i can actually name soccer players. i cant name any wnba players not one and im a huge sports fan

Like Trump, the NBA should not take write-offs. LOLThe league has yet to turn a profit after 23 years. Just because you think it’ll make money doesn’t mean it will. NBA has deep pockets and I can understand why it would be a good will write-off.
Sue Bird, player at CTK in Queens her last 2 seasons of hs, team went undefeated her senior season and won a NY state federation title. She won 2 chips at UConn, longested tenured WNBA player, 3 titles in league, most all-star appearances in league history and the most accomplished medalist in US Women's National Program history across Olympics and Worlds...she swept all major individual player awards senior season at Uconnah i do know diana taurasi and brittany griner. i feel like they must be old now.
the others i have legitimately never heard of.
and ive never heard of her. think of all the accolades dart players have. havent heard of them either.Sue Bird, player at CTK in Queens her last 2 seasons of hs, team went undefeated her senior season and won a NY state federation title. It is impossible if you are from the metro area that you never heard of her...quarter century High School to nowand ive never heard of her. think of all the accolades dart players have. havent heard of them either.
You can’t be serious. If you pulled 100 random people from the Metropolitan area, maybe five know who she is; probably less than that.It is impossible if you are from the metro area that you never heard of her...quarter century High School to now
its not impossible at all because i dont. i actually do remember a uconn womens player, maya moore. i have to think hard about it. i believe that was when uconn was like 82-0 (which emphasized how awful the product is)It is impossible if you are from the metro area that you never heard of her...quarter century High School to now

But we follow basketball...this is a basketball site. I know my wife and three daughters would have no clue who she is.I've known about Sue Bird for years since her high school days.
That's just dumb. I'd bet at minimum 10% of NYers have no clue who DJ LeMatheiu is. And you expect them to know who Sue Bird is? Far from impossible. It is impossible if you are from the metro area that you never heard of her...quarter century High School to now
