WEST LONG BRANCH, N.J. - Freshman goalkeeper Anna MacLean (Thunder Bay, Ontario) came up with six saves on Monday night, keeping the host Hawks off the board as the Pirates earned a scoreless draw at Monmouth.
The clean sheet is the first MacLean has recorded in her short time at The Hall (0-4-2) and the newcomer has now turned away a total of 34 shots in five starts; recording five or more stops on four occasions including each of the last three.
Monmouth (4-1-1) entered the contest having outscored opponents, 8-to-3, through its first three home matches. The Pirates are also just the fifth non-conference team to visit Hesse Field and come away with a result in the last four seasons.
Freshman Tanika Roach (Somerset, N.J.) worked the best scoring opportunity of the night for SHU when in the 78th minute, she used her speed to open up space on the left wing but her low driven shot was stopped by the Hawks' Sydney Lavan.
With the match in extra time, two of MacLean's saves came after the conclusion of regulation to help The Hall secure the result.
