- The BIG EAST Tournament is here and Seton Hall is the No. 3 seed, the fourth time in five years that the Pirates are the tournament’s No. 3 seed.
- The Pirates are 31-36 all-time at the BIG EAST Tournament with championships in 1991, 1993 and 2016.
- Last season, the Pirates rode late season momentum into the BIG EAST Tournament finals , its second appearance in four years, where they fell in a tight contest to Villanova, 74-72.
- The Hall is 5-2 all-time as the No. 3 seed.
- As the higher seed at the BIG EAST Tournament, Seton Hall is 18-9.
- Since 2015-16, Seton Hall is 12-5 at Madison Square and 6-3 at MSG in the BIG EAST Tournament

- Seton Hall finished the regular season with a 21-9 record overall and a 13-5 mark in the BIG EAST Conference, which earned the Pirates a three-way share of the league’s regular season championship, the program’s first since 1993.
- The Pirates were in first place for every day of the BIG EAST’s regular season, marking the program’s first wire-to-wire run at the top of the league.
- This season marks Seton Hall’s fifth consecutive 20-win campaign, a program record.
- The Pirates’ 13 BIG EAST victories are the second-most in program history behind only the 1992-93 squad that won 14 games.
- Seton Hall has registered 10 or more BIG EAST victories in four of the last five seasons.
INSIDE THE SERIES: MARQUETTE
- The Pirates are 11-19 all-time against Marquette but they’re 9-8 since the BIG EAST’s reconfiguration in 2013-14.
- Willard is 8-7 all-time against Marquette with head coach Steve Wojciechowski at the helm.
- The Hall is 2-2 all-time against Marquette in the BIG EAST Tournament and its won the last two meetings.
- Last year’s win over Marquette in the BIG EAST semifinals was a true rock fight as the teams combined to earn nine technical/flagrant fouls, three ejections, four foul disqualifications, 57 fouls called and 85 free throws attempted.
- The Pirates went 2-0 against Marquette during the regular season, winning by nine in Milwaukee (88-79) on Feb. 29 and by 14 in Newark (69-55) on Jan. 11.
- Myles Powell is averaging 25.6 points per game in his last five games against the Golden Eagles.
POLISHED RESUME
- Seton Hall ranks 15th in the NET with a 10-7 record against “Quad 1” opponents and a combined 15-9 record vs. “Quad 1” and “Quad 2” opponents.
- The Hall’s 15 combined Q1 and Q2 wins are tied for third in the country with Villanova.
- Seton Hall’s seven Q1 road wins are tied with Kansas for most in the country
- The Pirates and Butler are tied for most Q1 + 2 games played (24) in the country.

A YEAR TO “RO” MEMBER
- The strong final season for senior Romaro GIll (St. Thomas, Jamaica) was rightfully rewarded with Gill earning the BIG EAST’s Defensive Player of the Year and Most Improved Player of the Year awards.
- Gill becomes Seton Hall’s third BIG EAST Defensive Player of the Year recipient joining Jerry Walker (1993) and Fuquan Edwin (2014).
- He is also Seton Hall’s third most improved player alongside classmate Myles Powell (2018) and Shaheen Holloway (2000).
- As a junior, Gill averaged 2.3 points and 1.3 blocks per contest. This season, he posted 7.8 points, 5.6 rebounds and 3.2 swats per game while starting in 26 of the Pirates’ 30 games.
- Gill ranks third in the country and leads the conference with 3.2 blocked shots per game.
- Gill’s 95 swats this season, which also paces the conference and ranks fourth in DI, ranks fourth all-time in a single season at Seton Hall.
- His 63.5 percent field goal percentage and 3.4 blocks per game led all players in BIG EAST games.
- Gill claimed the conference’s statistical championship in blocks per game (3.4), joining Samuel Dalembert (2000) and Eddie Griffin (2001) as the only Pirates to accomplish that feat.
- He also became the first Seton Hall player since Michael Cooper (1990) to win the BIG EAST’s field goal percentage title as he shot 63.5 percent from the field in 18 league games.
- Gill is one of 10 semifinalists for the 2020 Naismith Men’s Defensive Player of the Year.
- Off the court, Gill is involved in Seton Hall’s Student-Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC) and represented the Hall and the BIG EAST Conference over the summer at the annual NCAA National SAAC meeting at NCAA headquarters.
- Gill is also on the SAAC Men’s Basketball Oversight Committee, where he offers his advice on current legislation and subjects of interest among his sport for the NCAA.
MP & Q EARN BIG EAST HONORS
- Senior All-America candidate Myles Powell (Trenton, N.J.) was unanimously selected to the All-BIG EAST first team for a second year in a row, the conference office announced on March 8.
- Powell is only the second Seton Hall men’s basketball player to ever place on to the All-BIG EAST first team multiple times and two years in a row, joining former Pirates legend Terry Dehere (1989-93).
- Joining Powell in receiving honors is classmate Quincy McKnight (Bridgeport, Conn.), who was named All-BIG EAST honorable mention.
- While receiving the most attention on the defensive end from opponents, he is averaging 21.0 points per game, second-most in the BIG EAST, and 18th best in the country.
- In conference play, Powell was also second in the league in scoring at 20.9 points per game as well as tied for 10th in assists (3.4) and tied for eighth in steals (1.4).
- McKnight has been rock steady as Seton Hall’s point guard in his senior season with overall averages of 11.9 points and 5.4 assists.
- He claimed the conference’s statistical championship in assists by averaging 6.3 dimes in the 18 league games, becoming only the second-ever Pirate to do so (Shaheen Holloway, 1998).
MP13 JOINS EXCLUSIVE COMPANY
- Along with his elite scoring numbers, senior All-America candidate Myles Powell (Trenton, N.J.) will finish his career as one of Seton Hall’s winningest players in program history.
- Not including redshirt seasons, Powell is currently tied for sixth all-time with 84 career victories, two shy from matching Chris Davis (1990-91, 92-95) for fifth all-time (86):
