"I think it knocked us back quite a bit," Marquette head coach Steve Wojciechowski said of Seton Hall's physical play. "We're not the most physical team and they are. I think they're as physical as anyone in our league.
"They're athletic one through five and they're power athletes....Both games I thought their physicality just wore us down. We've got to get a lot stronger and tougher."
....
"They're probably the toughest team in our league," Fischer said. "They might not be the most talented, but they definitely play the hardest. They send five guys to the boards at all times and if you're not ready to get hit or hit someone you're going to suffer from that."
....
Seton Hall sophomore guard Khadeen Carrington and senior Derrick Gordon both missed shots. The problem for Marquette, though, was that as the rebound fluttered around, it found its way into the hands of Pirates sophomore Ismael Sanogo both times. After securing his second offensive board of the possession, Sanogo kicked a pass out to sophomore guard Isaiah Whitehead, who buried a three-pointer.
Sanogo didn't score a single point for Seton Hall (16-6, 6-4) in his 17 minutes of action, but those offensive rebounds helped alter the outcome.
