similar to many others on here, I could give two shits about the NBA. That being said, i caught the highlights of last night's game & saw that former St. Marys star Dellavedova was a big part of the Cavs OT win. He shut down Steph Curry (another favorite of mine and pretty much everybody I'd imagine) & hit two big free throws at the end to help cinch the win. I loved watching his junkyard dog style & clutch cajones lead the Gaels to many successful seasons while he was out there in Moraga. The fight on that kid is next level.

Don't like the nba playoffs? I can't figure how a hoops fan doesn't love it. But the refs were awful...two amazing missed calls. Dellavedova was grit personified.

have to admit I fell asleep and missed end of the game, but I'm very interested in this series. If you're a sports fan, I think the story lines are pretty good with Lebron vs. Curry (obviously not 1:1).

Rest of the series should be very good.

Curry was an abomination last night lets pump the breaks on dellavadova. Played a great game, but it was Curry who lost that game.

I think I've seen more airballs in 2 games in this year's final than I saw in the entire NCAA Tournament.

Pretty astonishing the amount of airballs, imho.

Golden State lives and dies by the 3. Although Curry has some gorgeous moves to the basket when he does look to take his man (men) off the dribble.

These two games were the first two NBA games I have watched in years. The product just cannot compare to college hoops.

The amount of hacking Lebron took last night was an abomination. I did not realize the NBA was tackle football.

I liked when Leb pump faked, had the defender jump and then Leb elbowed him below the waist and then they called a foul on the defender and gave Leb 2 FTs. That was a great call by the refs. And the announcers just continued to fawn over Leb.

Shupat08 That play was classic and the announcers were a joke. I normally do not watch any NBA regular season games and very few playoff games. I was going to watch the NBA Finals this year, but after watching the game last night, I am not watching another game.

Refs were really bad last night, but people forget how bad the refs in ncaa were. People forget how bad refs are in every sport.

As for the announcing I almost threw a brick through my tv every time jeff van gundy opened his mouth. unreal. I dont know who he wanted to win more, Cleveland or the Cavs LOL.

NBA product is still much better than college, even if im a bigger fan of college.

How about when Lebron went for the jump ball against Draymond Green & Green held his shoulder. That looked like something the Globetrotters would do to the Generals.

Blatt is absolutely clueless. They were lucky to get away with it but how Mozgov wasn't in the game at all in OT was asinine. He was the only offensive option behind Lebron and he doesn't play after scoring 17 points and grabbing 10 boards. Ridiculous.

Golden State forced the Cavs' hand by going small and putting Green at C and Barnes at PF. The Cavs would have been sunk on D if Mozgov was out there trying to guard either of them with Green likely containing him on the other end. There was no way the Warriors were letting Bogut back in during OT.

There are some great shots of the blown calls on Lebron in SB Nation. I saw them on my phone at lunch but the link wont load on my computer. Pretty clear it is a marginal walk if any, and an absolute hack. And the jump ball was worse.

We have a guy playing point, scoring 30some, having no help offensively, bust his ass on D, triple double and people still dot realize how amazing he is. He cannot score like MJ did. (Even though LJ has around the same percentage on last second shots as MJ in the finals). He is MJ/Magic in one. Not as great as Magic in what he did, or as MJ in what he did. But LJ is amazing.

I still say Magic and Bird tie for the greatest non center ever. If the Lakers or Celts of the 80s did not exist, no one would have ever beaten either team and Magic may have 7-8 titles. My Lakers with Kobe beat no one except the one time they beat the Celts. MJ never played a great team in the finals. Magic beat a real good 76er team, the Celts and the Pistons. Bird beat the Lakers. The Sun with CB were good, so was Utah with Malone and Stockman. But nothing like the 80s Celts or Lakers. Those were the two best teams since the 60s Celts, and those teams and their stars saved the NBA.

Though I stopped watching the NBA in 2007, the TV ratings for this series impress the heck out of me. It's really no surprise since the Cavs and the Warriors are the two best teams, and LeBron and Curry were 1-2 in the all-star voting and are 1-2 in jersey sales. Major markets? Who needs 'em. I wish the World Series would connect with the public like this.

Hockey ratings are setting NBC ratings records and they arent even shown on the regular network except weekends. Some good series going on right now. Hopefully we can crack out two game 7s before we hit the summer time doldrums watching baseball desperately try to hold on to public interest.

Hockey last night on NBC sports channel, not network.

Since when is SF/Bay Area not a major market?

It's not considered a major basketball market a la New York, LA, Chicago, or Boston. A friend of mine was saying this series would be a ratings disaster because those markets aren't represented. Good for the NBA that teams from those cities aren't needed.

Back to baseball: While I consider it my favorite sport (the only other one I follow is college basketball), I've yet to watch a single pitch in 2015. It seems a lot of people have drifted away. Not sure why that is as it's easily the best game. I can't put a finger on why people aren't interested. I can't even explain why I'm not.

I work in radio, and unless I've completely missed something, we both consider the same markets "major media markets" from a population/ratings perspective. SF, Dallas & Miami are top 10 markets along with Philly, DC, Houston & Atlanta. SF is actually above Boston currently, although these change constantly. NY, LA & Chicago are always top 3 though, and much higher than the next markets.

I realize that, but from an NBA fan perspective the major markets are the four I've mentioned. Which is why my friend's prediction is proving wrong. Also, the NBA's popularity is based more on individual players than teams. Since LeBron and Curry are the league's two most popular players, it's no surprise that this series is a ratings bonanza. So the NY/LA/CHI/BOST thing is old-school thinking.

??? Games 3-4 on NBCSN.

??? Games 3-4 on NBCSN . That is what I meant to say.
Yea not the main network. pretty impressive, since im sure theres a bunch of people who dont know what channel that is. Oh, and Emmrick is 10000x better than Jeff Van Gundy. Polar opposites.

Doc has to be compared to Breen. Doc is the best. Breen a total bore. I like the hockey broadcast. Between periods, hockey guys discuss hockey. They dont make it into a big production, they just talk about the game. They let Doc do the PBP with little interruption and Doc is fabulous. The NBA analysts would never do that, but the NBA PBP guys will never earn the respect Doc gets. I think the major sports broadcasts have too many people involved. I guess it helps with the borderline fan. I would make sideline reporting constitutionally banned. Mike Breen and (and Jim Nantz while we are at it) would also be banned from basketball. And no more sideline reporting at a Met game in particular that drags into the first two batters of an inning. WGAS. I do like Van Gundy and the TBS gang between games, Barkley et al, are entertaining.

There are sideline reporters in baseball now? Wow, I guess I really have stopped watching.

The Mets have them, and they guy starts talking before the inning starts and there is two outs and he is still talking. Gary has to jump in when the guy takes a breath to give the pbp. I liked the old way, three pbp guys, two in the TV booth at all times, and each does three innings on the radio. You have one crew that you can get used to. I think this just means I am an old geezer. And for the WS they used to have the home announcer added to the NBC team.

Yea inside the NBA is great, and its funny how often I agree with Charles Barkley. but JVG needs to chill with the drooling over lebron and the cavs. its childish at some points.

Simple tends to be better, but since baseball's popularity is on the downswing they seem to want to try new things to generate interest. Unfortunately, old geezers are the only ones interested as baseball doesn't seem to be picking up its next generation of fans.

Back to Delle - apparently he left it all on the floor last night. Was just released from the hospital for dehydration. What a performance by the kid and the Cavs needed every point and play he made. He's making a name for himself. I bet they are printing Delle jerseys today to sell at the next game.

Boston is only a major market when the Celtics are good. Right now they're 4th behind the Pats, Sox & Bruins. Biggest front running town in America.

Delle was great last night, defining gritty. Very disappointed in Curry's demeanor. He has to keep his head up. If he and Thompson can shoot like they did all season, it will be tough for Cleveland to score enough to beat them. On the other hand, it is hard to figure that Cleveland will let them score that much.
