Horrible new with what’s going down in Lahaina, front street is completely destroyed… horrible and sad, makes you wonder what will come of the Maui Invitational?

It's so terrible. Was up most of the night info gathering and messaging people there. I feel very fortunate that Oahu where I'm located was spared.

Terrible - I've visited Lahaina / Maui many times, sad to see what's happening there.
Such a crazy/terrible year for weather and natural disasters...even paradise isn't immune. Prayers for all the people there. 🙏
Probably not totally “natural” considering all the human related crazy climate changes recently, but regardless, the Maui invitational will most certainly move back to Las Vegas as it did in 2019; or maybe to Honolulu?
I remember when living there how Maui embraced the tournament in that high school bandbox. But with the epicenter of Maui tourism gone a tournament there is unlikely.
Even upcountry is on fire including the Kuka neighborhood I lived in.

I have a friend who is a first responder on Maui and am hoping he's OK. Not that it possibly compares to the human toll, but the historic Lahaina Banyan Tree was reportedly also destroyed. 150 years old as of earlier this year.
There are photos of it burned, but still standing. So don't know if it's dead or not.
The before and after comparison photos of the town are unreal. Still three fires burning uncontrolled on parts of the island. Heard some parts of Kihei that were allowed to return have to leave again.
Some friends who had to evacuate with their 18-month old may be flying over here tonight.
This also means Mick Fleetwood's iconic blues bar is destroyed. Best place to be right now would be those submarines that take the tourists. How is the north shore and Paia doing? Hoping Mama’s is Ok?

Stevie Nicks, probably worth over $100 million talks about her spared vacation place and disruption in a relative’s vacation. She’s not mentioned much about the horrific death toll and extreme panic that so many experienced and how so many merchants and citizens just getting by lost everything. She’s not mentioned any personal aid donation or on the ground support for survivors so unlucky compared to this self centered woman.
She hopes for everything to be put back together so she can vacation there occasionally.
