The men's 2015 soccer schedule was posted. It's quite challenging, especially since the Big East is a top soccer league.

All the top goal scorers from last season are gone, so it's hard to know how the team will play.

I'm glad to see that regular season home games will not start until school has started, although a Friday night home opener will probably affect attendance. Most home openers in the past have been well attended.

Monmouth and Princeton on the road could be nice opportunites to take a short ride to support the team. However, both games are on Tuesday so only if work schedule permits.

Is there any word on the recruiting class? Are there any standouts? This is a big year. It's the coach's fourth season and 11 players graduated, so it will be the first season that he has a team where he recruited the majority of the players on the roster.

SOUTH ORANGE, N.J. --Following a campaign in which his squad dropped just one of its final six matches while navigating through one of the premier conferences in the country, Seton Hall Athletics Hall of Famer and fourth-year head coach Gerson Echeverry announced the entire 2015 Seton Hall men's soccer schedule on Wednesday.

The 16-match slate features seven home dates at Owen T. Carroll Field and will once again see the Pirates tackle one of the most difficult schedules in the nation.

In 2014, the BIG EAST cemented itself among the elite men's soccer leagues by sending four teams to the NCAA Tournament, three of which advanced to the national quarterfinals. The Hall closed the season with a tremendous postseason push of its own, going 2-1-3 down the stretch during a run that included a landmark victory over third-ranked Georgetown and the program's first win at St. John's in nearly 25 years.

The late surge helped Seton Hall finish as one of seven BIG EAST squads in the top-70 of the final RPI rankings. Overall, the conference boasted four teams that ranked among the top-15 and all but one finished inside the top-100 in the end-of-season tally.

What lies ahead for the 2015 side is a schedule that calls for seven matches against NCAA Tournament participants from a year ago. In addition to the daunting round-robin conference schedule, five of the Pirates' seven non-league opponents also earned a spot in the RPI top-100; pushing the total to 13 such opponents for next season.

The tests begin right from the first whistle as The Hall opens with home exhibition matches against Atlantic-10 champions Fordham (Aug. 20) and Saint Peter's (Aug. 23). Echeverry's group will kick-off the regular season at the College of Charleston Tournament, taking on the host Cougars (Aug. 28) in the opener before meeting reigning SoCon champs Furman two days later.

Rider and Delaware will travel to South Orange for the Pirates' first two home appearances of 2015 with matches scheduled for September 4 and September 9 respectively. Seton Hall will hit the road for its final two matches prior to the start of conference play, traveling to take on another pair of league champions in Bucknell (Patriot) and Monmouth (Metro-Atlantic).

The contests with the Bison (Sept. 13) and Hawks (Sept. 22) are separated by more than a week allowing The Hall to host its Alumni match on Friday, September 18 (7:00 p.m).

The Pirates will look to get off to a fast start in conference play with Creighton (Sept. 26) and St. John's (Oct. 3) coming to Owen T. Carroll Field in the first two league matches of the season.

After visiting Princeton (Oct. 6) in its seventh and final non-conference outing of the season, SHU will head to Marquette (Oct. 10) to open a five-match swing in which they will alternate between home and way. DePaul (Oct. 14) and Butler (Oct. 24) will make the trip to the Garden State during the stretch which also calls for trips to Providence (Oct. 17) and Georgetown (Oct. 28).

Seton Hall will also travel to Xavier on October 31 before closing the regular season at home against Villanova on Thursday, November 5 at 1:00 p.m.

The 2015 BIG EAST Tournament will again feature the top-six teams in the final league standings. The top two seeds will automatically advance to the semifinal round while the remaining qualifying teams will open up tournament play on November 8. Semifinal contests are scheduled to be held on November 12, ahead of the championship on November 15.

Matches throughout the BIG EAST Tournament will be hosted by the higher seed.

2015 Seton Hall Men's Soccer Schedule Unveiled
Date: June 4, 2015
By John Fanta, Assistant Sports Director

Coming off a season which featured a late surge in the campaign, the Seton Hall men's soccer program will be looking to keep momentum rolling in the right direction in 2015.

Fourth-year head coach Gerson Echeverry announced the team's slate this week, and it promises to serve as one of the toughest across the country once again.

Seven of the 16 opponents on The Hall's schedule reached the NCAA Tournament last season, and 13 of the teams the Pirates will face finished in the RPI top 100 in 2014. The Pirates will have a fresh look after 10 seniors departed the program at the conclusion of last season.

SHU will open exhibition play when the Pirates play host to Fordham on Aug. 20 before welcoming Delaware on Aug. 23 to conclude the preseason.

Seton Hall will try to find something that the program has been looking for throughout the past seasons under Echeverry –consistent play on the road. The Pirates will get underway with the regular season with two contests away from home, taking on the College of Charleston on Aug. 28 and before facing reigning Southern Conference champion Furman on Aug. 30. The Hall's home opener will be part of a doubleheader on Sept. 4 when the blue and white battle Rider.

Big East play starts and ends with good opportunities for the Pirates to make statements in a conference that sent four to the National Quarterfinals in the NCAA Tournament last year. SHU will host Creighton on Sept. 26 to open league play before battling St. John's in South Orange on Oct. 3. The Pirates will travel to Marquette, Providence, Georgetown, and Xavier this year in league play.

The season closes on Nov. 3 at 1 p.m. against Villanova.

The 2015 Big East Men's Soccer Championship will feature the top-six teams in the league standings. The top two seeds will automatically advance to the semifinal round while the four other qualifying teams will begin tournament play on November 8. Semifinal contests will be held on Nov. 12. The championship is set for Nov. 15.

Matches throughout the tournament will be hosted by the higher seed.
