Mike Boynton on NIL

@williaza01

we can rest this case.
We can? So we were recruiting great prior to NIL?

Every program or coach in America blames NIL..Ohio st has complained about their NIL…I bet it’s most difficult for the teams that mastered cheating paying players prior..now that more schools can do it above board.

You just worry about attacking Wusu’s literal intelligence and telling us we blew a game when we are up 14 with the ball.

Definitely a different world and IMO, not a better one. Everyone loves college football down here in the South yet they all have the same complaints about the NIL. It is destroying what made college sports so much more exciting than pro sports.

this is saying it's all coming down to money. programs that weren't good and don't have good coaches just need money.

i assumed you'd try to spin it some way but this is pretty cut and dry.

If it’s just money why did all those kids decommit from Alabama? They took the money back?

With NIL, college athletics are no longer "amateur" in the sense that college athletes are now being paid out in the open on a per year basis in addition to their scholarships; but, if we're being totally honest, they never were completely "amateur" for the bigger schools who were already doing this under the table and/or with other incentives (cars, house payments, etc) for their bigger sports.

What happened to the Pac-12 can probably just as easily happen to the ACC, Big 12, and Big East.
Big 10 and SEC are probably safe for the foreseeable future, but they may try to merge and form a "Junior NFL" mega-conference where obviously football rules and everyone else falls in line. Who knows how long the current form of the NCAA tournament will continue, with all current 362+ Division 1 basketball teams included in having a chance for a title. Cable TV is still around, but streaming is the way of the future. And now services like peacock, apple, etc are making you pay an additional fee for watching certain games. Who knows what the landscape will look like in another 10 years. Enjoy every SHU game is my best advice, cause who knows what the future will (or won't) bring.
