With NIL, college athletics are no longer "amateur" in the sense that college athletes are now being paid out in the open on a per year basis in addition to their scholarships; but, if we're being totally honest, they never were completely "amateur" for the bigger schools who were already doing this under the table and/or with other incentives (cars, house payments, etc) for their bigger sports.
What happened to the Pac-12 can probably just as easily happen to the ACC, Big 12, and Big East.
Big 10 and SEC are probably safe for the foreseeable future, but they may try to merge and form a "Junior NFL" mega-conference where obviously football rules and everyone else falls in line. Who knows how long the current form of the NCAA tournament will continue, with all current 362+ Division 1 basketball teams included in having a chance for a title. Cable TV is still around, but streaming is the way of the future. And now services like peacock, apple, etc are making you pay an additional fee for watching certain games. Who knows what the landscape will look like in another 10 years. Enjoy every SHU game is my best advice, cause who knows what the future will (or won't) bring.
