stl-mil, at least one cardinal positive...cant see the series playing this weekend because as we saw with philly you can test negative for many days and still positive days later

nba is back and hockey soon. no reason to watch that 10 hr sport anyway. juiced balls counterintuitive.

love baseball but its become like watching paint dry.

NFL should go to a regional bubble system. If they dont will be hard to get through a real season.

MLB’s coronavirus problem is spreading quickly.

The Brewers-Cardinals game Friday night has been postponed, The Post’s Joel Sherman confirmed. The Cardinals had positive tests and are self-isolating at their hotel. SportsGrid is reporting that it is two positive tests.

The Marlins have had 17 players test positive, while the Phillies have had a coach and staffer test positive. Those teams who started their season against each other will not play at least until next week.

The Phillies, Nationals, Yankees and Blue Jays have had their schedules altered by the Marlins and Phillies cancelations.

With the addition of the Brewers and Cardinals, 20 percent of MLB teams have already needed to postpone games just a week into the season. The Cardinals played the Twins earlier this week and Minnesota started their series against the Indians on Thursday.

Friday night’s NL Central matchup was supposed to be the Brewers home opener.

3 games cancelled and only 2 teams have players w the virus. This is crazy

Agree. No reason to postpone a game for two players testing. Just isolate them and make sure everyone else tests negative.

yea. im pissed the phillies keep cancelling games. their players have tested negative and only a coach + staff member tested positive. basically confirms to me that the marlins didnt spread it. get them out there playing.

i guess the only concern is the locker room. teams might think the away locker room is like a hazmat area.

Shu09 this answer tells me everything wrong with your opinion and how you have been in bubble for 5 months now.

It will take days of negative tests to determine that other players and staff have escaped contracting it.

Why? Test them all today and get the results before the game.

They get tested every day with results the next morning. Contracting covid the facts are you can test negative for a few days be a transmitter in that time and then test positive days later

How could you transmit a virus that you don't have? It's not possible.

Using the CDC-developed diagnostic test, a negative result means that the virus that causes COVID-19 was not found in the person's sample. In the early stages of infection, it is possible the virus will not be detected.

Marlins to transport players, coaches with coronavirus back to Miami

11:32 AM ET
  • ESPN

The Miami Marlins, after an 18th player tested positive for COVID-19 on Friday, are getting multiple sleeper buses to take infected players and coaches from Philadelphia to Miami, sources told ESPN's Jesse Rogers on Friday.

In all, the Marlins have had 18 players -- of the 33 traveling with the team -- and two coaches test positive over the past eight days, sources confirmed to ESPN. All games for the team have been postponed through Sunday by Major League Baseball.

El Extra Base was the first to report the new positive test on Friday.

Two Cardinals players test positive; game ppd.

While the players and coaches with the coronavirus are being transported to Miami, the rest of the team will remain in Philadelphia, where the Marlins played last weekend and have been undergoing daily testing.

The prospect of the team's season restarting Tuesday at home against the Phillies remains in question.

If the Marlins play that series in Philadelphia, they could bus to New York to face the Mets, then bus to Buffalo, New York, where the Blue Jays plan to play their home games this season. In that scenario, the Marlins would not return home until their Aug. 14 series against Atlanta, though Miami-Dade County currently requires a 14-day quarantine for people coming into the area from New York, further complicating matters.

Miami could make up the three games against Washington that have been postponed this weekend by scheduling two doubleheaders during future series and playing on their shared Sept. 17 off day. How to make up the four lost games against Baltimore, an interleague opponent, could prove tricky, leading to the possibility the Marlins won't play a full 60-game schedule.

The Marlins is assessing how to fill out a roster with a combination of players: those already in the organization and training at its alternate site in Jupiter, Florida; free agents; and waiver-wire claims.

ESPN's Jeff Passan contributed to this report.

Go ask the Marlins

It is impossible to transmit something you don't have. Basic physics.

The Marlins players had the virus. Isolate the two Cardinals who have it and let the negative players play.

Kinda makes you wonder why were testing if you can test negative 2 or 3 times and then positive later lol

it's troubling to see people on here refusing to accept reality and facts
Never mind here there are plenty of people that still think covid is a hoax. And where my brother lives a couple on the block put out flyers to all the houses for a party on Saturday. Even telling what types of food you can bring. Then you have the people you refuse to wear masks.

Troubling for sure, but not surprising.

Shut the whole damn season down. MLB does not deserve to exist after caving to BLM. A part of our social fabric destroyed overnight. Now I'm hearing Rutgers is claiming the English language is racist. First our history, next our language, is mathematics the next target

Except that if two of them have it, it's very likely that more of them do, too and it might take a week for it to show up in a test. So you either have the players continue to commune as a team and have likely infected players continue spreading it or cancel games until you know they don't - which in a 60-game season can be 15 percent of the season.

So you believe the cdc throws out narratives as an intimindation tactic to the public? You keep on keeping on with your total whackiness on Covid

How can you spread something if you don't have it? It is physically impossible. Please, do tell.

To use a sports analogy - if I don't have a baseball in my hand, I can't throw it to someone else. If I don't have the virus, I can't spread it to anyone else.

Why is this so difficult? A kindergartener would understand.

Can you list your top 10 typical injustices, please. I saw a clip of a young black woman pulled over by a trooper for doing 70 in a 55 mph zone. He had a body cam and could not have been more polite. Afterwards, she went on a lengthy rant about how blacks face this treatment every day. It was ridiculous. I've been pulled over and treated worse. If this is what blacks are complaining about, I have absolutely no sympathy. So let's see your list. Make it good.

I believe you owe him an answer.

If you test negative for COVID-19, you probably were not infected at the time your sample was collected. This does not mean you will not get sick:
  • A negative test result only means that you did not have COVID-19 at the time of testing or that your sample was collected too early in your infection.
  • You could also be exposed to COVID-19 after the test and then get infected and spread the virus to others.
  • If you develop symptoms later, you may need another test to determine if you are infected with the virus that causes COVID-19.

What you posted here If you test negative for COVID-19, you probably were not infected at the time your sample was collected. This does not mean you will not get sick makes it seems pretty pointless to be canceling games based on tests. Even if you test negative it can't be trusted because you can get the virus immediately after testing.

You're basically advocating for life as we know it to be shut down.

I am advocating? This is from the CDC...Johns Hopkins had a findings filed on this. A person could have been exposed by enough particles and for a few days not be covid positive as swabs were taken too early in the process of Covid replicating in the body. Days later test positive. This is not opinion, its a fact.

This parasite knows full well the only moderator to this site is off the reservation for two weeks and now wants to continue to pollute. You very well could have gone in on this on the thread on LOTS. Instead you lifted content from a thread on another board because you have an agenda. As far I am concerned that other poster asked and it was answered.

Off the reservation, a derogatory phrase about American Indians leaving a place they were restricted. Yikes.

Why is the board social justice warrior using this derogatory phrase? And @Bobbie Solo likes it lol

Pot meet kettle.
