The other day the Hall had individual workouts with most of the players (some were at classes).
As I have often noted this is where Willard excels as he is not only a great teacher but has an uncanny knack of seeing fixable problems in player's games.
Last night I briefly spoke to someone who witnessed the workout.
He noted that the 4 starters looked great. Said they were clearly head and shoulders above the rest of the players.
Understandable since this is their 3rd year in the program.
He noted that the two rookie guards struggled a bit. Again understandable since this is new to them and it will take them a while to get comfortable working on the aspects of their games that Willard deems necessary.
Powell is clearly ahead of Gordon at this point. Best we all be patient with Gordon. He has the physical tools to play at this level but needs time to refine his game.
Nzei also looked good but not great. That's not surprising as his game is based on athleticism and work ethic. Things that don't translate as well in individual workouts.
Carter looked pretty good and might be ready to take the next step.
I asked about Thomas and Jones but neither was in attendance as both had classes.
Did not ask about Anthony or Veer as our conversation was short.
Remember, all the above was based on just one viewing from an outsider. Although the outsider is a college coach.
