Chris Mullin's first hire will be Barry Rohroson asst now at Kentucky. Announcement to come after Kentucky either loses or wins the championship. Another name I'm hearing that could be an asst. is our own Derm Player. His name has been mentioned by some in the know in NY basketball circles.

Sal, you are keyed in here. Looks like Mullin making the right moves so far. With regard to Player, he did have an eye for talent. He is the one that spotted Hazell who was an Underw recruited player. I always felt bad for Jeremy missing his senior season. That was a bad break.

If Slice takes that job and leaves UK, I know a great assistant candidate for Calipari who reeled in a Top 10 class in 2014....and Pitino would give him a reference!!!

Thanks Sal. See I said the same days ago and was ripped because of some misspelled words lololol. But I know relationships and loyalty. I know that Chris is a Dermon fan and since Derm received his degree from SJU he is a SJU insider forever. Plus Ron Rutledge always liked his as well and he is Louie Cs (scared to try to spell) side kick. Not sure Derm will get position, but they sure will consider him. Barry is from same neighborhood in Brooklyn and same HS. Also look for Billy Singleton the ex SJU player, Zendon Hamilton who was a volunteer Assistant last season, and the ex Manager who is at Iowa State as a lead recruiter to be considered.

Lastly did I read somewhere that Steve Alford has a $10,000,000 buyout on his contract. With that said why would a $1,000,000 buyout seem excessive? lolol

PLease do not tear me apart if there are some typos on this post.

Derm does not scare me at all, he will do something illegal within 3 years and be gone anyway. Maybe they can dig up Adubato also.

Interesting how the guy they called The Alphabet man at one time continues to get jobs. Not sure Derm will get job but trust me he has pull and power enough to steer kids away from schools that dog him. Trust me!!! Just as a kid was pushed away from Georgia Tech during Hewitt tenure when Hewitt got too big time on some people Kid staring in the NBA now and if he attended Ga. Tech Hewitt would still be there. Remember the Chicago AAU and HS Coaches closed DePaul Down by not letting them get one Chicago Area player years ago and DePaul to this day has never fully recovered!

If Kentucky ends up winning the tourney I can see Cal trying his hand in the NBA again next season. Some owner will pony up a ton of cash for him in the association. Lets say Cal leaves and since Slice is now in Queens would Briscoe change his mind and go to St. John's. I wouldn't rule that out.

Ummmmmmmmmmmmmmm Interesting since Briscoe liked SJU very much! And his dad knows who Chris Mullin is!!!

I just googled this and the top 2 links, written one day from each other in mid-November, showed conflicting info. The first quoted Calipari responding to this exact question saying he had, the 2nd one said he was waiting until this Spring. I'm guessing the 2nd one is correct, meaning he hasn't signed. But I'm sure other posters know this off the top of their head.

Smart move if he didn't.

If he transfers with the new rule, would he still have to sit out one year?

He would have to get a release from Kentucky, which most schools give when the coach leaves.

There is talk that Hoiberg wants to coach in the NBA next season. That would make Abdelmassih's decision to leave Iowa State an easy one.

Maybe, that would be because Kentucky still playing.

As far as Derm Player is concerned you are not accurate about him and his dealings. Remember who he worked for and the asst. is always thrown under the bus. Mons. Sheeran did him a total injustice and as much as a lily white that Willard is he wanted to keep Derm as an asst but was told no. If anyone was a slime on that staff it was Adabato.

Great call on Slice being the first hire Sal. Just because someone fed you info doesnt mean they were a good guy. Derm just like every other coach was as slimy as they come and set SHU back.

Dermon couldn't even buy a storage shed for recruits correctly. My biggest pet peeve, if you are going to cheat, the player better be worth going down the tubes for.

Slice would never say anything prior to the conclusion of Kentucky's season. Remember he grew up idolizing Chris Mullin! Guy is a close friend. If Kentucky pays $400,000 next season and SJU and friend from the neighborhood Chris Mullin offers $385,000 and the chance to be part of something that could be super special in the future do not bet against him returning back to NYC again.\ as associate Head Coach. Remember the last SJU HC had only one local staff member and hardly any local tri state players, something that SJU always had during their glory days.

Remember the Seton Hall glory days when we kicked the shit out of SJU on a regular basis. LFBALL. Why do you continue to post SJU info on the Seton Hall message board. Are you trying to bust our chops, if so take your posts to the SJU board. Question for you, if SJU does bring in major talent- there is only one basketball and who is going to coach the team? Chris Mullin with zero, zilch coaching experience? You rarely post on this board, now you are posting multiple times a day. I was sitting 5 rows from the floor, even with the foul line at the 89' Final Four watching Seton Hall. Sitting directly behind me was Jerry Lucas, have you ever had seats that good at a Final Four?

What's wrong with him posting St. John's stuff? There are people on this board who follow college basketball in general, particularly the Big East. This is a major story for the conference and its future, and people here seem to be interested in it. Also, what's your point about your Final Four seats? Are good seats at a Final Four a requirement for discussing college basketball? I suddenly feel bad for Jerry Lucas. I hope he was able to enjoy the games :)

Question to you Mr. Flnj86 ? Why are you being so angry and borderline rude? Thus far there are 2,689 views on the SJU stuff I only started. One of the greatest things about the Seton Hall basketball board over the years is the many people so knowledgable about college basketball in general. Thus there is always great topics to read on this board even during the off season. From AAU stuff to coaching changes around the country. I just wanted to discuss what was about to happen that will impact college basketball in the area for the next few years. It was also to hint that SHU and RU better step it up rather they think so or not because SJU with the new hire will make SHU look more closely at the basketball program to make sure the right person is in charge and the team is able to compete not just on the court but in recruits living rooms and in the media. So again no need to be mean spirited. Dag gone you actually in your own way told me to get off the board, something at least one of your coaches would like lololol. Than again you might just be one of those coaches or a close friend (smile). And yes I have sat in the 2nd row behind the bench a few times as well as way up in the nose bleed section. Did the same at The Medowlands and The Pru sitting way up but still enjoying the game. But what if I had not? Does that make you some sort of super fan because you sat near Jerry Lucas? Did you know he has a photographic memory and remembers everything? Ummmmmm I wonder what his memories are of that day!

Don't let him get to you, LF. He's already been warned multiple times by SnakeTom for attacking other posters and slurring ethnic, social and sexual minority groups. He's on two strikes probation and will be banned sooner or later. This might be sooner.

Conversation overheard at the 1989 Final Four between Jerry Lucas and a fan.

Fan: Mr. Lucas, what did you think of my Pirates coming back to beat the Duke Blue Devils?
Lucas: That was impressive. They're a really good team.
Fan: They'll be even better in the 2015-16 season.
Lucas: How can you be so sure? That season is more than 25 years away.
Fan: Because of this kid named Kevin. He's only 13 now, but one day he will coach Seton Hall. He's going to win and win big, and it's going to make me the happiest sixth-grade graduate in all of New Jersey.

It's funny that you think he is the one whose postings are ruining the board...

Pictured above, a clearly troubled Jerry Lucas summons his recollections of the 1989 Final Four.

ACLU intern. He's a nut, but relax with the laundry list of dubious accusations. NONE of which occurred on this thread.

Jerry Lucas was a very friendly, intelligent and knowledgeable basketball person. I followed him and was a fan when he played for the Knicks and after having a conversation with him that day was even more impressed with Jerry Lucas as a person.

Summon your inner Jerry Lucas, and apologize to LFBall. I have no idea who he is, but from this board he certainly fits your description of Jerry Lucas. Plus, he brings some occasional comic relief! lol

I don't know what this means, but this is, in SnakeTom's words and not mine, what he has done and what will happen if he continues to do it.

Jerry Lucas stated to me, that there was no foul at the end of the game on Gerald Greene vs Rumeal Robinson. He had a very good view of the play because it happened right in front of us near the foul line on the same end of the court. The game should never of been decided by this phantom foul. He probably had that look on his face after viewing this play.

Or maybe it was something else.

The guy can't be real, and if he is, Lord help anyone who actually knows him in real life.
