We're 3-1. We haven't looked good in any of our wins and pretty bad in our loss. (Not trying to be negative)

The most disappointing thing is Delgado. The reigning BE ROY has been terrible.

2nd most disappointing thing has to be our defense. Constant wide open looks especially from the perimeter.

With that said, we are starting 5 sophomores and are really young. We should continue to improve and get better each game. The NCAA's are probably a long shot (weak ooc schedule, bad coach, not enough depth). The NIT should be a realistic goal, right?

Good synopsis. The one thing I would add 3rd is the lack of an offensive scheme that utilizes the talent.

One thing I might disagree is that "they should continue to improve and get better". That has not been the case for a KW coached team for five years.

I don't think either Delgado or Whitehead have played particularly well. Both are top talents. They'll need to find their grove. If or when they do, it should change how we look. If they don't, we won't have a chance at being any good. Other than small spurts here and there, they've really underperformed this week. If they play their games tomorrow, we'll have a chance to beat Ole Miss.

At this stage I do not think we look very fluid or well organized. I don't see any consistency or tenacity on the defensive end. The way that Long Beach State absolutely hammered us for a large portion of that game should be alarming. Need to continue to get better.

Overall I like the talent level, but it's completely inexperienced. Until it starts to produce it's all just "potential." The fact that we're so dramatically imbalanced is a reflection on the management, but a good coach would make it develop measurably as the season progresses. We'll see what Willard can do.

We were young when they were freshmen...as sophs they arent young anymore with a year of college under their belts. You excuse makers for this lousy coach and team should all climb back under your rocks. Willard could not build a program here. We stink.

Um, you do recognize that the original poster and two respondents so far have been very critical of the coach for quite a long time, do you not? They are not being "excuse makers" - they are trying to avoid being angry and negative (which is how your post comes across) despite sharing the conclusion that the coach is not the right coach - and so they are looking at the players and thinking about the positives for the players.

That's about where most of us are right now.

Is it possible that we overate the collective Basketball IQ on this roster??

Very unimpressive so far. Struggled vs. 3 cream puffs and lost to a middle of the road team in the Big West. Have to beat Mississippi with or without Whitehead. Hall has no wins vs. anybody any good. Mississippi is probably a tourney team. Lose tomorrow and would have to beat Wichita, Georgia, and at GW if you want any type of post season. I fear season is going to be lost before Big East play starts.

I like this years team but we are not deep. Whitehead and Delgado will come around. Mostly concerned with our defense. Wish Willard would emphasis and implement traditional man defense rather the the hybrid scheme he is running.

Sonogo is an upgrade over Mobley. Except for the fact that he can't shoot. And he can't hit free throws.

Delgado looks worse, Whitehead looks worse. Carrington about the same. Desi got better.

Derrick Gordon is a big drop off from Gibbs.

Anderson is horrible. Nzei looks like he has some potential. I want to see more of Singh. We are lacking some outside shooting.

Most talented, deepest team under KW. Lockdown Defense... Sigh.

Did someone praise our hoops IQ. The team's that is. We already know how dopey we are.

We don't enough ball handlers on this team. Is anyone really comfortable with Gordon? Bradley is a team full of freshman and it was back and forth game. That's a problem. But anyway Whitehead didn't play in the second half. So hopefully today we get a win against Ole Miss and do well for the rest of our non conference games.

The team's hoops IQ is an unknowable quantity because it is fundamentally obfuscated by the coach's hoops IQ. Or so it seems to me sitting in the corner with my dunce cap on.

Desi has been our best and most consistent player so far. IW is struggling but shows flashes of how good he can be. I don't ever remember a new PG playing great the first few games so we are gonna have to be patient. Ish has been good but needs to work on his D. Nzei has been good and also needs work on his D. Angel is a turnover machine so far and has disappointed. He may be banged up but has to improve or we are in trouble. Carrington has been good but forces it too much. Coaching has been poor. Bench contributions are MIA.

We might be lucky to be 3-1.

Can anyone teach this team that ball movement creates high percentage shots; that everyone has to go for the high percentage shot first and foremost? So many circus shots by everyone, except perhaps Ish.

The team finally looks like a big east team athletically, so that's something. They just look like a south Florida team, athletic, but not so much on the bball skills.
