Strengths:
Moore is a classic late bloomer who was relatively unknown coming into the July evaluation period prior to his senior year. His unique combination of size, grace and skill caught coaches' attention and caused a surge in his recruitment that was almost unprecedented in the class of 2017. He projects as a face-up four-man with good size, long arms and the shoulders to support more muscle mass down the road. He's very mobile with effortlessly fluidity to him as he covers the court. His shooting stroke is his most intriguing weapon with a beautiful, pure release that is extremely hard to find. He also possesses some secondary tools including good hands, the ability to change ends and an occasional flash of a jump hook.
Weaknesses:
Moore is a bit of a project at a place like Indiana and shouldn't be expected to make an immediate contribution as a freshman. He's almost totally unproven against high level competition, needs to add a significant amount of muscle to his frame and get much more comfortable playing in contact. He'll have to adjust to the speed of the game as well and the overall transition to the next level will test his patience and resolve as it will likely be a longer process than must incoming recruits to blueblood type programs.
Bottom Line:
Tom Crean has a history of being intriguing by big men with pure shooting strokes and so while Moore is a long-term stock for the Hoosiers, his unique combination of size, length, fluidity and skill made him a worthwhile risk.
