Denver Anglin, a 3-star combo guard out of New Jersey, has committed to Georgetown. Anglin is Georgetown’s first commit in the class of 2022, signaling a strong start for the Hoyas as Patrick Ewing looks to put together a highly-ranked recruiting class for the second consecutive year.

Anglin is ranked 131st nationally in his class, according to 247Sports. Despite this relatively low ranking, Anglin has seen his recruitment heat up in recent months, with many considering him to be a hidden gem in the class of 2022. The Hoyas beat out more than 20 suitors to secure Anglin’s talents, including Big East foes UConn and Providence. You love to see it.

Heading into the 2021-2022 season, analysts predict that three-point shooting will be a weakness for the Hoyas. Anglin certainly has the ability to fill that void as soon as he arrives on the Hilltop in 2022. He is confident in his shot, and he is never afraid to pull the trigger.

Anglin’s skills as a sharpshooter have been on full display this summer, as he has shot 48.6% from beyond the arc in 12 games over the past two weeks. He even beat the buzzer with this game-winning three pointer at the illustrious Nike Peach Jam earlier this month.

Still, Denver Anglin is more than just a three-point specialist. “He’s always one of the loudest players on the floor but also brings you elite skills on both ends of the floor,” wrote Stockrisers’ Jake Weingarten back in May. “Speed, great playmaker, can score on all levels, and is also a very capable defender.” While it’s near impossible to project what the Hoyas’ 2021-2022 depth chart will look like, Anglin sounds like a more than capable addition to Georgetown’s talented young backcourt.

With one commitment secured for the class of 2022, Patrick Ewing and his staff will now certainly be looking to make a big splash with a highly-sought after recruit. Georgetown has been linked to multiple 4- and 5-star recruits, including 4-star SF Christian Watson, who also happens to be a DC native. “Patrick Ewing came to my game to watch me this past weekend and Coach Clinton Crouch was my trainer in the second grade so he has a huge part If I were to go there,” Watson recently told 247Sports. “Georgetown is home and a big option for me.”

The Hoyas also appear to be in the mix for 5-star wing Chris Livingston, the 5th-ranked prospect in the class of 2022. Livingston is set to take an official visit to Georgetown this week, but the Hoyas will have to compete with the likes of Kentucky and Kansas in a true battle of the blue bloods.

Either way, it’s good to see Georgetown on the board when it comes to commitments for the class of 2022. Here’s to hoping that Denver Anglin’s commitment opens the floodgates for another monster recruiting class for Patrick Ewing.

Really good get by Georgetown. The kid is scorer. Also brings a nice toughness. In one video I saw of him, he sprinted down blocked a shot and then stared down the kid who had been shooting. He's a very Old Big East Georgetown like player.
