NJ State Budget

With lots of new taxes most likely. Already our new governor is increasing fees where ever he can (speeding tickets, licenses for anything you need a license for and lots more). I also hear he wants the NJ estate tax back too and has folks working on it. Wants sales tax to go back to 7%. And he proposed a corporate business tax as high as 13% (which would give NJ the highest CBT in the country) for companies and plus a millionaires tax.

Has proposed a budget much higher than Christie's last budget too (last I heard 8%+). This is the knucklehead that bought the election and wants to tax everything in sight and we are already considered the worst state to have a business in and one of the highest taxed states. I would have to give up my SHU tix but if it happens I told my wife we may have to leave sooner than later.

Just saw a headline where he won't sign the budget because all his spending is not in there.

To be honest, I've tuned Murphy out completely. He never instilled any confidence in me that he had a clue how to run a state government and he's been a total joke thus far. I'm high-tailing it out of the state anyway within the next year...and right now my main interest is to see if the Merck property sale goes through which would have a major impact on property values.

2 common denominators (well 1 since they are hand in hand) in both government shutdowns.

And I'll give you a hint... It's not the Governor, The political party of the governor or the political party in charge of the Legislature.

It's 2 men... Norcross and Sweeney.

A lot of knuckleheads voted for a man who promised to do all of these things.

Guys.. I'm telling you, it's simple. Sweeney and Norcross are causing the government shutdown (if Murphy doesn't cave). Because Murphy crossed both of them with some of his cabinet picks. Now they want to prove to Murphy who is boss.

This is all the budget fight and shutdown has to do with.

"His behavior is exactly like Chris Christie's, but he smiles more," said Sweeney, who went head-to-head with the former Republican governor in a budget showdown last summer that resulted in a three-day government shutdown.

Will we have a passed and signed budget next Friday?
TRENTON – Lawmakers have reached a budget deal in Trenton.

Details include:

10.75% on a five million income threshold millionaire’s tax; a “mega millionaire’s” tax.

2.5% hike on the state’s corporate business tax (CBT) for a four year-period.

The sales tax is dead.

A person in the know told me 2weeks ago millionair tax would be over 5 million etc. the drama was
To make Murphy look like a tough guy I believe. He found out Trenton is not Goldman Sachs I guess
His former colleague Corrine didn’t tell him or the chipmunk would not listen. Now he knows.

Murphy and NJ legislature suck! 11.5% CBT - second highest in the nation with combined reporting which came out of nowhere. I am a partner in a NJ small business and am going to have to look at moving myself and the business to see if it's feasible. Just a ridiculous state to do business in and now getting much worse. Brilliant leadership!
