Not surprising given how the team finished. What a fall from where they were in early January...Well, at least this takes one more excuse away from the BOR for keeping Willard...

Two teams we beat though are in NIT (GW & ISU).
We actually beat more teams in the NCAA field than the NIT. Odd...
And we beat both of the teams in the Big East Championship Game.

Oh, what the hell; I have nothing to do today!

Kentucky: None
Wisconsin: Ruptures (67-62), Maryland (59-53), Duke (80-70)
Villanova: Seton Hall (66-61 OT), Georgetown (78-58)
Duke: NC State (87-75), Miami (90-74), Notre Dame (77-73), Notre Dame (74-64, ACC Tourney)

Thank GOD this season is over. We were ranked 19th two months ago, and now im just happy I dont have to watch my team play for another year. Only Willard.

I hear you Shuathlete.

One of the worst feelings in sports as a fan is when you actually dread going to a home game because you already know what type of product is on the court and who is on the sidelines pulling the strings.

I was happy at the Providence game because it was the last game I had to sit through and leave the Rock shaking my head.
Which begs the question: how much longer will SH fans put up with this type of performance?

Answer: as along as the administration can get away with it.

When you look back, we got lucky to catch Nova on the right day. Refs calling a million fouls helped us. Rutgers beat Wisconsin for god sakes. Even the best teams throw in some clunkers over the course of a long season.

The win I can't get over is the Xavier game. We looked really good that day. Whitehead was a terror. It wasn't lucky. We played really well that day and beat a very good team that had also played a good game. And then it just all disintegrated on an unbelievable level.

I cant really describe the look on the guys' faces after the loss to Marquette. Worse than anything Ive seen. A deeper issue than just losing the game.

Really sucks to always see your team in that state, and it sucks knowing your administration is committed to keeping it that way. Sickening almost.

I was at that game and it was my first game at the Prudential Center in a few years. I went into it with low expectations because we had been on a slide (lost four of six prior to it), but after the game, I was very fired up. And after that game, only one game was won.

Sadly the NCAAs begin tomorrow or wednesday depending, and we are not in them again. This is not only sad, it is depressing.
Knowing that when I come to the board I will not find a note listing whom our new coach is just makes the sadness worse.

Today's local rag had the team by team run down and the Pirates were listed. Where were they listed you ask. In the Villanova write up citing bad losses (they did not mention they pounded us later). Also in the rag was a front page story about the local team playing a play in game and covering the hoopla at the school. No joy in our Mudville these days. The way we began the season and ended is like finally getting that date with the local beauty only to be told the day of your date she is sick and cannot go out.

I went on and filled out my bracket but there is no passion in doing it. Kind of like getting to the airport, seeing I missed my departure and then thinking about when that plane would arrive at its destination. Next season will not arrive soon enough for me. Of course, with the same coach it will be like expecting to arrive at a card table expecting to beat the card shark.
