Notre Dame's Jewell Loyd has informed the WNBA in writing that she plans to enter WNBA draft, according to a source, @macsmith413 reports

Makes no sense, for what 90 grand a year?? I think they can actually make more overseas..,

Lloyd. Can make a lot more than that in Europe .Just ask a few of the UConn grads like Diana Turassi who make 750,000 a year.

Most of the Irish think it is a good move. ND has lost a lot of talent over the past three years , 3 first team All Americans in Diggins ,two seasons ago ,McBride last season, Lloyd this year and they also lost 6'5". Achonwa who anchored the middle last season . ND has been in then final 4 the last 4 years . Well,it is going to be a lot harder road . A step back in talent

Now a reality check for women's college basketball. Next season ,UConn is going to be a very heavy favorite . First ,they still have the best player in women's basketball in 6'4" Stewart ,and a lot of stellar players returning . Then add 6'5" center Natalie Butler ,a transfer from Georgetown and a player the pirates are familiar with. Next, add this year's # 1 high school player 6'3 " K. Samuelson ( sisters play for Stanford ,go figure) from California .

In 2016 ,they already have a commit from the. # 3 ranked player in. 6'0" super guard Crystal Dangerfield from Tennessee who couldn't keep her in state .UConn is also very actively recruiting the # 1 ranked player 6'4" Lauren Cox ,#2 ranked 6'3" Joyner Holmes , # 13 ranked 6'0" Natalie Chou ,all three from Texas. And # 6 ranked 6'4" Tori McCoy from Illinois .These players have UConn at the top of their lists

Auriemma has built a dynasty and it is going to continue for the next few years . No college team is close . A team like South Carolina has a tall talented front court but guard play needs to really improve . Young teams like Maryland ,Duke,North Carolina etc will be better ,but nowhere near UConn.

ND will be good ,but not a final four team in 2015- 2016 .Need to rebuild to get back .Reality.

As far as J. Lloyd ,she is projected to be a top 3 pick in the WNBA. or she could opt to play in Europe.

And they are recruiting 2016 top 10 rated Sabrina Ionescu from California a 6 foot guard. She is the best player in the San Francisco Bay Area.

Thank you Walnuter. Just proves my point . Kentucky men 's program always gets top 10 McDonalds All Americans but they leave after a year or two..UConn women recruit Top 10 year after year ,and they stay 4 years .

Auriemma is a master recruiter and the super high school stars know they will be on a final four and win1 or more national championships before they graduate and their bench will be very deep 2015-2016.. No college can make that assurance .

One big and only negative. The AAC women's conference ,SMU,Tulsa USF,UCF,Memphis ,etc is by far the weakest major conference in college basketball. Auriemma and UConn don't want to embarrass these teams , so instead of beating these teams by50- 60 or more ,they only win by forty or so . In order to have any competition ,they have to schedule some, about 4-5 out of conference top 10 teams like ND ,Duke Ohio St,Stanford ,South Carolina,North Carolina, etc which they routinely beat by 20 points or more. But his recruits want to play for a national championship no matter how bad the AAC .
