NEW YORK – Seton Hall's Eden O'Leary (Tel Aviv, Israel) was named the BIG EAST Conference men's soccer Defensive Player of the Week on Monday. Senior goalkeeper Andreas Nota (Rome, Italy) was also awarded a spot on the Honor Roll.
O'Leary returned in the Pirates' match against No. 3 Georgetown for his first game action since the season-opener at NJIT. With the Pirates trailing 1-0 late, O'Leary scored the equalizer for the Pirates to send the game to overtime where it would remain a 1-1 draw. The draw kept Seton Hall unbeaten at home this season and they moved to 5-0-1 at Owen T. Carroll Field. The result also kept the Pirates in the second spot in the BIG EAST East Division at 4-1-2.
For the third consecutive week, Nota has earned a spot on the conference's Weekly Honor Roll. The senior helped the Pirates to a 1-0-1 week between the pipes including a 3-2 win at St. John's picking up four save sin the process. Nota added four more saves over No. 3 Georgetown on Saturday to help the Pirates draw with the top team in the BIG EAST and last year's National Champion.
O'Leary is the third Pirate to be named the BIG EAST Defensive Player of the Week after Luca Dahn (Kahl, Germany) won the award last week and Paavo Riihijarvi (Oulu, Finland) won the award earlier in the year.
Seton Hall will return to action on Saturday when they host UConn and look to remain unbeaten at home. The game is scheduled for 1 p.m.
