SOUTH ORANGE, N.J. -- Fresh off a 93-57 victory on opening day, the Seton Hall women's basketball team (1-0) is back at Walsh Gymnasium on Monday night for a nationally-televised rivalry game with Rutgers (1-0). Prior to the 7 p.m. tip on FS2, The Hall will raise banners commemorating last season's regular season BIG EAST title and its 2015 NCAA Tournament appearance. Monday night's contest is presented by Ricalton's.
The Tip- Monday night's match-up will be a shot at redemption for The Hall, as it faces a Rutgers squad that edged it in the 2015 NCAA Tournament First Round. It is the first regular season for the in-state rivals since Rutgers left the BIG EAST prior to the 2013-14 season
- Rutgers leads the all-time series by a margin of 34-9, but The Hall won the last meeting in Walsh Gym by a score of 45-42 on Jan. 27, 13
- The contest features a total of nine players that hail from the Garden State
- The Hall is making its first of six appearances on national television this season
Pirate Points- Seton Hall defeated Bryant by a score of 93-57 on Friday morning, improving to 33-10 all-time in season openers and 3-0 in lid-lifters under Bozzella
- Preseason All-BIG EAST pick Tabatha Richardson-Smith (Bay City, Texas) scored 25 points to lead all players against the Bulldogs, also grabbing five rebounds and two steals
- Tiffany Jones (New York, N.Y.) scored 13 points and swatted three blocks and has now scored in double-figures for three-straight contests dating back to last season
- The Hall's new-look starting backcourt of Aleesha Powell (Philadelphia, Pa.) and Shakena Richardson (Neptune, N.J.) combined for 31 points, nine assists and seven steals against Bryant
- The Pirates forced 25 Bryant turnovers and only recorded eight of their own
Rutgers Report- The Scarlet Knights are coming off a 78-65 victory over Saint Joseph's in their season opener
- Kahleah Copper led RU with 30 points and 10 rebounds in the victory, while Tyler Scaife added 24 points
- RU is coming off a 23-10 season and a trip to the 2015 NCAA Tournament Second Round
The Rutgers game is the first of two-straight contests against New Jersey opponents on FS2. The Pirates will next square off with Princeton on Thursday, Nov. 19 at 7 p.m.
