Because they wanted to. Just like how another team may want to hire her. Maybe they fired her illegally, maybe not. There aren’t enough facts and the tweets on the topic are just opinions although hers saying that her job is thankless is not wise IMHO particularly from a PR person looking for a job.She was the lead person.
