Opening day of MLB

Watching the Mets beat Scherzer and the Nationals was nice with the almost 42 year old Colon. During the game the ESPN team calling the game started talking about paying $210,000,000 to a pitcher who has never thrown a complete game. The quote from Curt Schilling said, "it's a different game". I thought back to the early 70's and looked up some stats.

The one that blew me away was that in 1972 Steve Carlton had 41 starts and 30 complete games! He had 254 complete games in his career. I'm wondering if there were 30 complete games from all of MLB last year?

Last pitcher with 30 CGs in a season was Catfish Hunter in 1975. Last with 20 was Fernando Valenzuela in 1986. Last with 300 innings was Carlton in 1980. We'll never see any of those numbers again. The agents won't allow it.
