I know we have discussed it here before at some point, but are any of you here still watching Homeland?

The last couple weeks have been about negotiations with the Taliban. Probably incredibly unrealistic for how involved Carrie is right now, but it continues to amaze me how that show is able to capture current events and air them as they occur in real life.

It's hard to keep track of who Carrie works for. Is she now a consultant? Is she employed by the white house, or the CIA? I have no idea. But yeah you'd think harboring and banging a terrorist might disqualify you from such positions.

Question - why did the show go out of their way to make sure the audience knew neither the CIA nor Saul informed her about the President's visit? Did the writers want to make sure we knew she had nothing to do with the chopper going down?

The show certainly isn't great anymore, but I thought it was a good episode that had some edge to it.

I think they are giving the obvious answer to us that Carrie isn't a mole, but will be a suspect since she decided to leave the decoy caravan and then somehow the Taliban (or whoever) knew the president was there.

Homeland has been my favorite TV show since it first aired. I also agree that it is incredible that these shows mirror what is happening in the world so closely at the time that they are first airing. I recall seeing (Sol) Mandy Potamkin interviewed some time ago and he stated that upon occasion episodes were rewritten because of unanticipated changing world events. For example last season the scrips were originally written assuming that Hillary was going to be elected President.
Oh and yes I thought the current weeks episode with the Presidents chopper going down was very well done. Leaving us guessing among many options the cause of the crash & possible outcomes.

I usually watch Homeland on friday so I'm usually a few days behind everyone else. Since the new episode is tomorrow I'm up to date for at least today. 2 Questions:

1, What do you make of the Russian? Can he be trusted. good guy or bad guy? The same actor played the Kremlin agent on the Americans also. Once again a good guy/bad guy character. There he turned out more good than bad.

2. What happens with Max. Can Carrie get him freed? My theory is the Russian tries to buy the Talaban off to let him go but once they see Carrie who put a gun to his (Taliban leader) head to free the sister in law in a earlier episode. They offer to free MAX in a trade for his sister in law who Carrie previously swore to protect.

OK you are right I'm going star crazy being stuck in the house due to the Covid19.crisis, I'm coming up with conspiracy theories on just about everything.
