I know this is waayyy off-topic. But I figured it'd atleast be seen here as opposed to some of the other Forums, and I know there are a few hip-hop heads on this board so:

Has anyone gotten the new Kanye cd? My girl just got it, I imported it onto my computer. Personally, I really like it.

Very little auto-tuning, some sampling, some killer tracks then some epically artistic tracks for a hip-hop artist. Kanye is killing everybody else out there, no matter what you think of him.

commercial hip hop/pop record of the year. nothing else comes close. His rapping isn't mindblowing (never has been), but it's competent enough on most of the tracks. The production is amazingly good. The beats on All of the Lights and Lost in the World are amazing. He worked with legends like Pete Rock & Rza, and i'm a huge Wu-Tang fan, so that was really nice to see. I love that Pusha T from Clipse is all over the record, as his verses are top notch. Nicki Minaj has the best verse of her career on Monster. She goes IN on that track.

d/l The Joy & Christian Dior Denim Flow also, two tracks that didnt make the album but were recorded during the same sessions. really good as well. I can upload if u want.

can you tell i back the album hard?

Kanye is 50% lyrics 50% production quality in his cd's. this one no different. lyrics are good, production quality absolutely great. I prefer Eminem because he is 90% about his lyrics and 10% production Quality. But Kanye's cd is good to veyr good. His beats are great and production is great, and lyrics are decently good. Too many urkels on your team thats why your winslow.

check Em's verses on the Nkki Minaj song from her album and the same from T.I. he goes harder than any of the bs on his own album. similar to how great his verse is on the Drake track Forever. sad.

and yeah, Em's production has always been terrible. basically his only drawback.

I like it alot, my only problem is some of the songs carry on to long after the lyrics are over. But "All of The Light" is on point, one of the best songs in a while.

Sorry but this belongs on Life Off the Ship. Six posts???...don't think anyone really cares even on this board.

Very good album. I downloaded it from Amazon because it was only $3 and figured "why not": very worth it. "All of the Lights" is one of the songs I listen to most from the album.

I got a chance to x kanye in camden almost two yeara ago, he was on for three hours just him on stage did not miss a word by far one of the best shows I have gone go along w eminem and jay z at Yankee stadium.

+1... only people I ever bother to check out are Kanye & Jay-Z.

Dark Fantasy, Gorgeous, Power, Lost In The World, Who Will Survive In America are the best songs on the cd. As a whole it is very good. Like a Rap Opera. Very good if you have the time and patience to listen to it all the way through. Each song flows with the next.

Sorry Bobbie... if that's Minaj "going in" then I'll pass on listening to anything else she's ever recorded. Annoying voice & flow. Give me Storm from the Outlawz over Minaj any day of the week.

Reakwon & Rick Ross were great to hear. Jigga always has more attitude when he raps with Kanye - which I like to hear. Prynce Cy Hi (who I've never heard of before) has some good stuff on the cd, same with Pusha T.

HallSoccer... I also agree about Kanye beign a 50% 50% artist. Nothing worng with that beats can be hypnotizing. But if you don't have to words to back it up - it's nothing. Atleast in my mind.

I love the fact that Kanye will still rap about touchy subjects - society, religion, education, politics, gangs. He speaks his mind and people don't like that. Too bad for them.

Lastly, Hip-Hop/Rap is definitely DEAD. People told me Em's new cd was GREAT. No it's not. Nas' past cd was good. Jay-Z compared to everyone else's watered-down music is great. And Kanye destroys everyone with his production and art... Just imagine if Biggie, Pac and Eazy were still living and rapping. And Lauryn Hill never broke up the Fugees. We'd be liviing in a completely different world in relation to Hip-Hop/Rap.

Oh well.

The Eminem/Jay Z concert blows away anything Kanye could ever dream of doing.

Plus as Shuttle so eloquently said.. He's a piece of shit

Barret what you need to understand is that kanye is an artist his show had a story and each song went along to it. It was a masterpeice as crazy as that sounds. He may say how he feels and it may sound crazy sometimes but the man has a passion for music and it shows through his lyrics and beats.

I could care less what he says in his music. The majority of rappers are simply putting on an act to begin with... Like Pat said, rap is pretty much dead. Every now and again a good cd comes out but mostly it's catchy singles turned into ringtones. The fact that FloRida can have 2 songs of note, both being the number one ringtones for long periods of time is mindboggling. Personally, Id take T.I., DMX, Eminen before even considering Kanye but that's just me

The way he acts in public however is just sad and pathetic. If you had him and floy mayweather in a room you'd have a great battle for most conceeded, out of touch "celebrity/entertainer"

i never want to listen to him in an interview setting ever bc he is so cringeworthy, but his music is legit.

I think Nikki Minaj is garbage overall, but her verse on Monster is excellent. thats all i was saying.

there's still plenty of good hip hop coming out of the Wu-Tang fam. Raekwon came out with the best hip hop album of '09 w/Cuban Linx II, he Meth & Ghost did a great album together called Wu-Massacre, and Ghost has a solid album coming out tuesday.

Gotta love The Wu...

On the Minaj thing, I can agree with that. lol.

You guys should check out Cormega. He has a bunch of cds out: The Realness, The True Meaning, Legal Hustle (more of a mixtape), The Testament, Born & Raised... He raps his mind, very real lyrics & beats. Old school 1990s beats with some 2000 type beats mixed in. A NYC boy. Was briefly in The Firm until he ran into criminal troubles and financial issues with Nas. Nas also gave him a shout-out on "One Love" on Illmatic. You should all give him a listen.

i sat in the studio once with Cormega cuz my friend produced one of his songs. Love all his material. From the same angle, AZ still puts out quality albums. Also, the Bog Boi record is also one of the best commercial hip hop releases this year. Shutterbug is my jam.
