Another good win for the Big East. Garden was thumping.

Sima, Yawke, Johnson & Mussini looked good.

Sima & Yawke vs Angel/Ish/Mike should be interesting.

How vividly I remember all the posts by many on this Board saying that hiring Mullin was a mistake because he had no head coaching experience . Seems to me he's doing a pretty good job as a head coach and made a very smart move by hiring very experienced assistant coaches like Barry Rohrssen and then bringing in Mitch Richmond as a special assistant to focus on player development.

Curiously, in a couple of late time outs, Mullin was walking around and an asst was in the huddle with the team. Never saw Louie do that.

If you've got very experienced assistants why not utilize their experience for the benefit of your team , seems like common sense to me.

St John's had a Great win today.

They are still the worst team in the conference.

Mullin will have them relevant in 2 years.

When was the last time you saw a head coach not in the huddle in crunch time? Even he whose name I shall not speak does that. That's why head coaches make the big bucks. Maybe Mullen is in over his head as a head coach since he seems to be acting as a general manager not a head coach. Maybe that's what SJU wanted, a figure head with a NYC iconic name to front them since Lavin certainly didn't work.

DePaul will give them a run for the money for that title.

Vegas, I actually disagree. I think DePaul is a lot better. Plus, I think Creighton will finish 9th

Fwiw not every huddle needs to be a white-board play ala Hoosiers... Mullin doesn't believe in that. Different philosophy all together. Wants player to be prepared what to do in situations, not walked through them every time. Not every coach is barking plays every huddle. Most real coaching is done in preparation in practices. Mullin is candid about this and leaning on his coaches for their areas of expertise. It showed today because SJU's offense shredded the Syracuse zone perfectly. It's something SJU has struggled with for decades. Kids still make the plays. Very good day for SJU and if at 7-3 SJU is really the worst team in the conference, the conference will be fine. SJU expected to get Marcus Lovett eligible in the next game or two as well..

If St. John's is going to go 12 for 24 on 3's (mostly from NBA range today) they will win their share of BE games. Most teams would. Either way they clearly got coached up between the Niagara game and the Cuse game. They got lots of good looks and made them. Good game plan against the zone and the players executed.

DePaul lost BT 20 last night to a rather unimpressive team. With yawke sj is better than earlier

Bringing in Slice was a great move and there were some posters here saying how Derm Player was going to be Mullin's top assistant or in the Richmond role. Mullin does have work to do, but it sure seems that this is the direction they want to go in after Lavin and it looks like Mullin is getting the tools to be able to succeed.

Mullin is 10 games into his career. Give it time. Right now he's done the smart thing by filling his staff with accomplished people. That's how you do it. The young kids on his team have to improve while Slice and others get the recruiting revved up. They have it set up to succeed on paper, we'll see if they can do it.

Man, did they shoot the ball today or what? Covered up some of the issues, namely ball handling.

We had no business winning this one today with 3 freshman starters and a bunch of transfers. It's a testament to good game plan because it gave us good looks all day. The fact that we played so consistently today is due to the staff. We still are missing quite a few guys still to injury and ineligibility. We might get Lovett back and he'd be a game changer because he's a true PG and quite good.

Didn't see the game but the 3 point shot is the great equalizer.

So nice to see a Big East team take down a Jim Banheim team.

Very few new head coaches do not want to hire slice. That credit goes to the people paying him.

SJU is awesome! They may even be the second best team in NYC right now - behind Fordham.

Yeah, what's the deal with that Arkansas Little Rock team? One of the last unbeaten's still left. They may be pretty good.

Cuse clearly is lost w/o Boeheim coaching them now. No way they lose that game if he's on the bench. SJU also shot the lights out. Enough with the praise for them. They still stink. That game was the equivalent to our Nova game last season....playing strictly on emotion.

Dayton lost last night to Chattanooga. The Mocs sit at 7-2 right now with wins over a very good Dayton team, Georgia & Illinois. Those last two aren't very good obviously, but they are power conference teams that should be able to take the Mocs. And one of their losses came from potential Final Four team Iowa State. Chattanooga might be a team to watch out for in March. They clearly aren't scared of the big boys.

Watched LSU lose to Houston tonight. Ben Simmons is alot of fun to watch and had a double-double, but he disappears for long stretches and ended up fouling out. He'll be scary when he realizes he needs to take over the game more often. I think they'll be dangerous later in the year, especially since the SEC is terrible once again.

Houston looked decent. They have a few highly ranked kids. Sampson might be getting it going slowly down there.
