Anyone know what happened with the Flagrant foul with about 3 minutes left? I didn't see a replay or an explanation. Game was tied at 55 so it could've been huge. Luckily SJU only got a point out of it (missed FT and turnover).

Had we not won that game, people here would be bashing Willard to no end. They called a foul on Ish, and right before the SJU player went to take FT, Willard yelled to the officials that the foul was committed on another SJU player. So the officials went to the monitor and saw that Ish got the guy with an elbow below the chin and changed it to a flagarant. Crazy thing was that the guy originally shooting FT's was a 60% shooter, so it wasn't like they made a mistake with an 80% shooter. Lucky for us it didn't come to matter in the end.

yet another horrible call in that game.
This call was actually legit. If you see a replay he clearly caught him in the neck. SJU was going to shoot 2 FTs anyway, but the flagrant call gave them the ball back after the shots.

It was a good call. Nzei, not Ish, shoved his forearm into the neck of the player. Very stupid play by Nzei, definitely a foul, the flagrant one is interpretation of the rules but after the replay that's what they decided.

Nzei has to learn to run through picks without his arms extended and high like that - he will get a lot of fouls called on him that way. It was inadvertant and just a physical play - I thought the flagrant one was borderline at best as he was just trying to run through the screen but it was def a foul.

It's flagrant according to the rules. Intent doesn't matter. If you catch a guy in the neck or above, that's what it is.

BTW - The announcers were speculating that Willard asked if Ellison was the shooter. Given that they wound up calling the flagrant out of the review, I'm guessing their initial speculation was wrong.

To make matters worse, the foul was committed on the shooter going to the line and not on another SJU player!!!
