Patrick School looking for new head coach?

Dan- while reading the article in the star-ledger about the hiring of Ben Gamble (the former Hurley assistant and former Archbishop McCorristan HC) as head coach at Mater Dei HS in Morristown, the reporter mentioned that Gamble interviewed for the HC at Patrick School. This is the first I've heard of this. Dan do you have anything further on this story because Patrick School usually has many division 1 prospects on their roster and this could affect the local recruiting scene.

I am very excited with this hire. My son played for Mater Dei and they have not been able to attract the good players they used to get. In 89, they beat St Anthonys. But they have been mediocre for years. After the school almost went out of biz this year the MD community quickly raised the 1 million bucks that the parish said they would need to stay in business. It reincorporated as a non diocesan HS. Looks like a few kids from McCarrick will follow Gamble. Looking forward to some good hoops their again.

While I am talking about shore HS hoops, it is amazing at how unimpressive CBA has been under ex SH asst Geoff Billet. Of course, they are still one of the best around the shore, but nothing like the dominant program Vinnie Cox built and Wiz ran for 25 years or so.

I wonder of the ex MD AD who is a SHU grad and big SH hoops fan will read this post.

A good friend and someone close to the Patrick School told me this.

Chris Chavannes is having health issues and it's possible that he might have to step down.

For his well being and for SHU's I hope not as he is a good friend of the school's.

My friend will keep an ear peeled and update the situation when he has more news.
