Omaha, Neb. - Sophomore Isaiah Whitehead (Brooklyn, N.Y.) delivered 22 points and dished out six assists, and the Seton Hall men's basketball team's interior presence out-rebounded Creighton 46-27 as the Pirates defeated the BlueJays 75-65 Saturday at CenturyLink Center to improve to 5-4 in BIG EAST play.

The win marks the second consecutive year that the Pirates (15-6, 5-4 BE) have taken down the BlueJays (14-8, 5-4 BE) in front of their home sell-out crowd of nearly 18,000.

Whitehead was one of four Pirates to score in double figures as his classmates also delivered; Desi Rodriguez (Bronx, N.Y.) had 14 points and 10 rebounds for his second career double-double; Angel Delgado (Bajos De Haina, Dominican Republic) turned in 13 points and 12 rebounds for his 10th double-double of the season; Ismael Sanogo (Newark, N.J.) gave The Hall a career-high 12 points and eight rebounds.

Turning Point
The Pirates had an outstanding first half and built a 13-point lead, 40-27, going into the break. But it was the opening outburst of the second half that cemented The Hall's winning position. After Geoffrey Groselle opened the half with a layup, the Pirates blitzed the BlueJays with a 14-3 run.

Whitehead led the effort with a three-pointer and jumper in the lane after sophomore Khadeen Carrington (Brooklyn, N.Y.) fed him an outlet pass in transition. A Whitehead layup was answered by a James Milliken three-pointer, but Sanogo then drove to the basket for a layup, the Pirates got a stop on defense, and Rodriguez followed with five straight points. The dagger was a three-pointer in the corner that gave the Pirates a 54-32 advantage.

Creighton twice went on runs, but the Pirates answered each time. The Bluejays cut the lead to 13 with 9:37 left when Rodriguez hit a huge baseline jumper to quiet the raucous crowd. Then when Creighton cut it to 10,67-57, the Pirates used their offensive rebounding prowess to score as Whitehead cleaned up a Carrington miss by drilling a deep three-pointer, thereby taking a minute off the clock and putting The Hall up 13, 70-57, with 4:47 to go.
