South Orange, N.J. - The Seton Hall women's tennis team celebrated its three seniors prior to its match against Queens College and then rolled to a 5-2 win over the Knights Friday at the Campus Courts.

It was Seton Hall's first match on campus this season and just the fifth since 2018.

The afternoon began with a pre-match senior ceremony, honoring Hiba El Khalifi, Arina Gumerova and Aina Plana Ventosa, and then all three seniors were victorious in doubles. Gumerova and El Khalifi teamed together at No. 1 to beat Maja Makal and Gabriela Sciarotta in a tiebreaker. Plana Ventosa paired up with Emily O'Donovan at No. 3 doubles and cruised past Rea Hagishima and Chloe Certain, 6-3. Oliwia Kempinski and Arabella Moen won their third straight doubles match together, defeating Apolline Lamy and Caroline Fawzy in a tiebreaker.

In singles, Kempinski continued her outstanding season, defeating Makal with ease, 6-1, 6-3, at No. 1 singles. She now is 18-8 in singles this season, including 11-4 this spring. Plana Ventosa was the second Pirate to win as she soundly got past Fawzy at the No. 3 position, 6-1, 6-4. El Khalifi then clinched the team victory when she topped Sciarrotta at No. 4 singles in a spirited match, 7-6(4), 7-5. El Khalifi has now won three in a row and is 14-9 overall, 9-5 in the spring.

Seton Hall will next head east and face St. Francis Brooklyn Sunday at the USTA Tennis Center in Queens, N.Y., at 10 a.m.
