South Orange, N.J. — In a BIG EAST battle between two sides that play similar styles, the Seton Hall women's soccer team drew with DePaul on Sunday afternoon at Owen T. Carroll Field, 0-0

The Pirates (6-6-4, 2-3-3 BIG EAST) picked up a point in the conference standings, giving them nine for the season. The Hall's nine points are its most since 2011, also the last time the Pirates made the BIG EAST Tournament.

With two games remaining, the Pirates sit in fifth place in the conference standings, two points ahead of Marquette and Butler. The top six teams qualify for the BIG EAST Tournament. Seton Hall will next travel to Butler for a 7 p.m. match on Thursday.

How It Happened

Both sides play a pressing a style and their similarities were evident on the pitch and statistically. Seton Hall finished plus-one in shots, 10-9, and finished ahead in shots on target, 4-2. It was also a physical 90 minutes with 19 combined fouls; 10 for Seton Hall and nine for DePaul.

Midway through the first half, junior Anna Prawer (London, England) made a spectacular, leaping save, punching the ball over the crossbar and out of bounds that kept it nil-nil. Strong offensive chances that ended in missed shots by senior Maille McDermott (Nashua, N.H.) in the 59th minute and senior Brina Micheels (Plattsburgh, N.Y.) in the 76th were a couple of the Pirates' best in the second half. Meanwhile, the Seton Hall backline returned to form with a stingy effort.
