The Pirates are 2-0 on the young season and they now face a stiff test Thursday when they play the Iowa Hawkeyes on their home floor as part of the second annual Gavitt Tipoff Games. Seton Hall will be looking to win a true road game for the eighth time in its last 12 tries after going 7-4 in true road games last season. This included big time wins over teams who filled their arena to near capacity:
- Dec. 30, 2015 at Marquette (83-63 W, Attendance 13,314)
- Jan. 16, 2016 at No. 12 Providence (81-72 W, Attendance 11,148)
- Jan. 30, 2016 at Creighton (75-65 W, Attendance 17,924)
- Feb. 21, 2016 at St. John's (62-61 W, Attendance 13,204)
The Pirates will be in search of a 3-0 start for the third time in head coach Kevin Willard's tenure. The previous times were in 2011-12 and 2014-15.
The Hall will continue to rely on the outstanding performances from its starters so far on the young season. Khadeen Carrington, named to the BIG EAST Honor Roll this week, is averaging 22.5 points and made nine of his 10 three-point attempts. Angel Delgado is averaging 18.0 points and 15.0 rebounds and looking for a third straight double-double. Madison Jones dished out 10 assists in his Pirates debut. Desi Rodriguez notched a double-double to open the season and is passing the ball extremely well. Ismael Sanogo is playing strong defense and had a well-rounded effort against Central Connecticut State that featured three blocks.
