South Orange, N.J. – Seton Hall dropped its second BIG EAST contest of the season on Sunday afternoon, falling 2-0 to Villanova. The Wildcats scored off a pair of set pieces as the Pirates fell to 4-4-2 with the defeat.

How it Happened
Villanova struck early to take the lead, as a header from Makayla Stadler off a corner got past Grace Gordon (Chester Springs, Pa.) to give the Wildcats a 1-0 advantage. The Pirates tried to quickly respond, as Brina Micheels (Plattsburgh, N.Y.) recorded a shot on goal less than two minutes later, but was stop by Villanova goalkeeper Megan McClay.

Gordon kept it a one goal margin midway through the first half. As the Wildcats had numbers in the attacking third, Gordon charged aggressively and made a sliding save at the top of the penalty area on a Lauren Belcuore shot to keep it a 1-0 match.
Villanova would add its second goal in the 56th minute, as Lauren Ashman scored off a free kick service from Emma Weaver to make it 2-0.

One of the best Pirate opportunities of the day came in the 73rd minute, as Maddy DeCola (Mahopac, N.Y.) controlled the ball near the top of the 18-yard box. The freshman struck a shot with her left foot towards the near post, but McClay was able to make the save.
