Final Stats

Box Score

The Pirates were led offensively by Noel Lent (Yaphanic, N.Y.) who went 3-for-4 with a double and three RBIs. Yasmin Harrell (Cheektowaga, N.Y.) went 2-for-3 with a pair of runs and two stolen bases and Alannah Basile (Levittown, N.Y.) hit her second home run in as many days to power the Pirates. Chrisa Head (Lewisville, Texas) started in the circle and picked up her first career win, while Madison Strunk (Adkins, Texas) fired 4.2 one-run innings out of the bullpen.

The Hall took a 3-0 lead after two innings, then ballooned its advantage to eight with five runs in the top of the third. App State answered with a six-spot in the bottom of the frame, but the Pirates roared back for three more in the top of the fourth to get the margin to the eventual final score of 11-6.

Turning Point

After the Mountaineers pulled within two heading to the top of the fourth, the Pirates scored three more times in the bottom of the frame to put the contest out of reach. Faith Laudano (Islip, N.Y.) drove in a run with a sacrifice fly before another came home on a wild pitch. Lent capped the scoring with a two-out RBI single later in the frame.
