PRINCETON, N.J. -- The Seton Hall men's soccer team (0-7-1) concludes its regular season non-conference slate with a trip to in-state rival Princeton (3-3-1) on Tuesday night. Kick-off with the Tigers is set for 7 p.m.
The Hall is coming off a 1-0 home loss to St. John’s in an extremely physical BIG EAST conference tilt on Saturday, Oct. 3. A total of six yellow cards were issued to the two sides, with the game’s lone goal coming from St. John’s Luis Esteves after a yellow on the Pirates in the 58th minute. Julian Spindler (Weiserbach, Germany) was excellent for the Pirates to keep the contest scoreless through nearly an hour and finished the night with four saves and several other chances thwarted. Samuel Geiler (Offenburg, Germany) led The Hall offense with three shots, including both of SHU’s shots on goal.
Geiler is tied with Andres Arcila (Cartagena, Colombia) for the team-lead in both goals (2) and shots (18), while Arcila tops the squad in assists with three and points with seven. Danny Bartok (Union, N.J.), Eric Lagg (Lafayette, N.J.) and Nick Najera (Laguna Hills, Calif.) have also found the back of the net for The Hall this season.
Princeton hosts The Hall in a non-conference tilt with a record of 3-3-1 on the year, recently dropping its Ivy League Opener to Dartmouth on Saturday by a score of 1-0. Prior to that contest, the Tigers were unbeaten in their prior three with wins over Boston University and Binghamton and a draw with American. Thomas Sanner leads the Princeton offense with five goals and 12 points on the year, accounting for nearly half of the Tigers’ 11 goals this season. Brendan McSherry has added a 2-2-6 scoring line and Nico Hurtado leads the squad with three assists. Ben Hummel sees the bulk of action in goal and sports a 1.66 GAA and a .655 save percentage this season.
The Hall is 11-13-5 all-time against Princeton in a series that dates back to 1986 and has been all Tigers in recent years, with PU on a seven-game winning streak in the Garden State Derby. The Pirates and Tigers have played every season since ’86, with Princeton securing a wild 5-4 victory in South Orange last season. The Hall trailed 2-1 at half before a pair of Victor Manosalvas goals in the second frame put The Hall on top. The Tigers equalized once, and did so again after Kai Greene put The Hall back on top. Princeton then found the winner with 28 ticks left in regulation to end the high-scoring affair. Geiler had two assists for The Hall, and Lagg and Julian Kennedy (Nindorf, Germany) also dished out helpers int he contest.
After the Princeton contest, The Hall heads to the stretch run of BIG EAST play with seven league matches to close out the regular season.

The Seton Hall University men's soccer team lost a high-scoring back,-and-forth affair against the Princeton University Tigers, 5-4, on Sunday afternoon, with Princeton's Julian Griggs netting the game-winner with just 28 seconds remaining in regulation.
