PREVIEW
Seton Hall will open the conference portion of its schedule this weekend with pair of matches against BIG EAST foes. On Friday, the Pirates will travel to defending champion Creighton for a match at 8:00 p.m. ET. On Saturday, The Hall will remain on the road for a match at Georgetown. The Pirates and Hoyas will play at 2:00 p.m. ET.

The Pirates are coming off a 2-1 weekend at the Cornell Invitational. The Pirates dropped the opener to Loyola (Ill.) on Friday, but rebounded on Saturday to sweep Cornell and edge Binghamton in five-sets. For their efforts, Amanda Hansen and Danielle Schroeder were named to the All-Tournament Team.

The Hall will open this weekend with a rematch of the 2014 BIG EAST Championship Match. The Pirates will travel to Creighton to take on the Bluejays to begin BIG EAST play for both teams. Seton Hall has won three of five meetings all-time, but dropped the championship game last November in four sets. Earlier in the season, the Pirates swept the Bluejays in the regular season home-and-home series. Creighton enters Friday’s match with a record of 6-7 overall and is coming off a five-set victory over Kansas State on Sunday. Don’t let the Bluejays’ unimpressive record deceive you. Four of their seven losses have come to teams ranked in the AVCA Top-15. One of their unranked losses came in five sets against Louisville, an opponent that swept Seton Hall earlier this season.

On Sunday, the Pirates will travel to Washington, D.C. to take on Georgetown. The Hoyas lead the all-time series, 21-12, but Seton Hall has won four of the last five matches. Last season, the Pirates swept Georgetown in the regular season, allowing the Hoyas just one set victory. Georgetown enters the weekend with a record of 6-7. Most recently, the Hoyas won two of three matches at the James Madison Invitational last weekend.

SETON HALL NOTES
CORNELL INVITATIONAL

Seton Hall finished it’s in-season tournament season with wins in two of three matches at the Cornell Invitational last weekend. The Pirates fell in four sets to Loyola-Chicago on Friday, but rebounded to down both Cornell and Binghamton on Saturday.

ALL-TOURNAMENT TEAM
Seton Hall landed two individuals on the Cornell Invitational All-Tournament Team. Both Amanda Hansen and Danielle Schroeder represented the Pirates as Seton Hall was the tournament runner-up.

HANSEN HONOR ROLL
Senior Amanda Hansen was named to the BIG EAST Weekly Honor Roll on Monday. The middle blocker had nine kills and just two attack errors in Seton Hall’s four-set loss to Loyola on Friday. On Saturday, Hansen had a match-high 10 kills to go with four blocks and a .304 attack percentage in a sweep of Cornell. Hansen recorded career-high 20 kills to go with five blocks, three digs and a team-high .439 attack %.

HANSEN KILLS 20
Senior Amanda Hansen recorded a career-high 20 kills in Seton Hall’s victory over Binghamton on Saturday. To make the feat even more impressive, she had only two attack errors in 41 attempts. It’s the first time a Pirate has recorded 20 kills in a match since Stacey Manthorpe had 22 vs. DePaul on Nov. 15, 2014.

BETTER TO GIVE THAN TO RECEIVE
In Seton Hall’s five-set victory over Binghamton on Saturday, freshman Sophia Coffey recorded a career-high 51 assists. It’s the highest total for a Pirate since Shelbey Manthorpe registered 66 vs. DePaul on Nov. 15, 2014.

TALK LIKE A PIRATE DAY
As any self-respecting Pirate knows, September 19 is “Talk Like A Pirate” Day. This year, Seton Hall won matches vs. Cornell and Binghamton and improves to 10-2 all-time on this national holiday for Pirates and Pirate fans.

MOVING ON UP
Last weekend, Amanda Hansen passed former Pirate Jennifer Mumby for fourth place on Seton Hall’s all-time blocks list. She now has 421 for her career. Silvia Watson is third on the list with 463 blocks.

MOVING ON UP II
Last weekend, Tessa Fournier passed former Pirate Sarah Osmun for seventh place on Seton Hall’s all-time digs list. She now has 1,226 for her career. Laura Romeika is sixth on the digs list and is only 10 ahead of Fournier.

600TH WIN
Seton Hall’s victory over Binghamton on Sept. 19 was the 600th win in program history. The Pirates are now 600-582 in 28+ seasons.

CHAMPIONSHIP REMATCH
Seton Hall will open its conference portion of its schedule on Friday at Creighton in a rematch of the 2014 BIG EAST Championship match. In one of the closest four-set matches ever, the Bluejays won the title, but both teams were selected for the NCAA Tournament.

SETTING IMPRESSIVE NUMBERS
Freshman setter Sophia Coffey continues to put up impressive numbers for Seton Hall. With 308 assists in her first nine matches, only former Pirate Brittany Rahrer needed fewer matches (eight) in 2005 to reach the 300-assist mark. Against Utah on Sept. 12, Coffey set career-highs with 46 assists and 15 digs for her second double-double of the year.

PIRATES WIN SETON HALL CLASSIC
Seton Hall won all three of its matches in its own Seton Hall Classic over the weekend, losing only two sets along the way. The Pirates swept Notre Dame on Friday before beating Hofstra in five sets on Saturday and sweeping Temple in the championship match Saturday evening.

SETON HALL CLASSIC ALL-TOURNAMENT TEAM
The Pirates landed three players on the Seton Hall Classic All-Tournament Team. Grace Forren, Amanda Hansen and Cherise Hennigan were all honored for their three-match performance.
