SANTEE, CALIF. - The Seton Hall men’ golf team will open the 2016 spring season with three rounds of golf at the Carlton Oaks WIU Invitational in Santee, Calif., February 15-16.

The Course:

Carlton Oaks is one of the top-rated golf courses in the San Diego area and has a long history of hosting numerous prestigious golf events including the first stage of the PGA Tour Qualifying School in 2010, U.S. Open and U.S. Amateur qualifiers and a Canadian Tour qualifier. The course has hosted the San Diego Junior Masters, bringing 400 players ages 8-18 from all over the world for a tune-up before the Callaway Junior World Championships in San Diego the following week. Carlton Oaks has also hosted the NCAA Western Region Finals and the NCAA Championship in 1974.

The Field:
The field will consist of seven teams. Including Seton Hall and host Western Illinois, participating schools include: Bradley, Butler, Cal State – Dominguez Hills, Cal State – San Marcos and San Diego.

The Lineup:
The Pirates will bring six golfers to California this week. Senior Ryan Snouffer (Sparta, N.J.) will occupy the top spot in the lineup. Junior Lloyd Jefferson Go (Guadalupe Cebu City, Philippines) is No. 2 in the lineup, followed by senior David Cha (Carrollton, Texas) at No. 3. Freshmen Gen Nagai (Mandaue Cebu City, Philippines) and Chris Yeom (Flushing, N.Y.) will round out the Pirates’ lineup at No. 4 and No. 5 respectively. Junior Kevin O’Brien (Wexford, Pa.) will also make the trip and compete for the Pirates as an individual.

Last Tournament:
Seton Hall is coming off a strong fall season which delivered three, top-7 finishes in five tournaments. Highlighting the fall was a 7-over-par, third place finish at the Navy Fall Classic. Individually, Go and Snouffer had historically successful seasons. Go averaged a team-best 71.80 stroke average, while shooting under par in half of his 10 rounds. At the Hartford Hawks Invitational, he shot a career-best 6-under-par and tied Seton Hall’s record-low score for a par-72, three-round tournament.

Snouffer had a 73.42 stroke average in the fall and logged four sub-par rounds, including a 5-under-par, 67, in the first round at Hartford. His 2-under-par, sixth place finish at the Turning Stone Tiger Intercollegiate led the Pirates.

David Cha had a career-best 5-under par, third place finish at the Navy Fall Classic, which included a career-low 4-under-par, first-round, 67.

Tee Times:
The golfers will play two consecutive rounds on Monday with a shotgun start at 7:30 a.m. Seton Hall will play the first two rounds with golfers from Cal State – Dominguez Hills and fellow BIG EAST foe Butler. On Tuesday, they will play 18 final holes with a start time yet to be determined. Pairings will be based on the team standings after two rounds.
