NEW YORK, N.Y. – Junior Mikael-Ali Mogues (New York, N.Y.) was named BIG EAST Baseball Player of the Week, while junior Zach Prendergast (Horsham, Pa.) was named BIG EAST Pitcher of the Week on Monday.
Mogues had a monster series for Seton Hall against Missouri last weekend. The first baseman recorded at least one hit in all four games and reached base a total of 13 times. On Friday, Mogues went 2-for-3 with a double. In game one of Saturday’s double-header, he went 2-for-3 with two doubles, a walk and an RBI. In the nightcap, Mogues reached base four times, going 2-for-3 with two walks and a run scored. On Sunday, he reached base four times again, going 1-for-2 with two walks, a hit-by-pitch, an RBI and two runs scored. Mogues led the team in batting average, slugging percentage and on-base percentage this weekend.
Prendergast was Seton Hall’s starting pitcher in the Pirates’ rout of #15 Missouri on Sunday. The right-hander pitched seven innings and allowed just one earned run, while striking out eight batters and walking only one. The victory enabled Seton Hall to earn a split of the four-game series against the 15th-ranked Tigers.
Members of the BIG EAST Weekly Honor Roll include: Butler’s Michael Hartnagel, St. John’s Aiden McDermott, Villanova’s Todd Czinege and both Michael DeRenzi and David Ellingson of Georgetown.
The Pirates will return to action on Friday, February 26 when they begin a four-game series at Florida International University. First pitch is scheduled for 6:30 p.m.
