South Orange, N.J. — Despite missing three key contributors, the Seton Hall men's basketball used a strong second half to power past Lincoln University as the Pirates tamed the Lions, 82-55, inside historic Walsh Gymnasium on Wednesday evening.

Five players scored in double figures for the Pirates (5-4), led by 17 points from graduate student KC Ndefo (Elmont, N.Y.) on 6-of-7 shooting from the floor. Ndefo also pulled down seven rebounds and blocked six shots. Senior Al-Amir Dawes (Newark, N.J.) and senior Tyrese Samuel (Montreal, Quebec) both had 16 points. Samuel posted a career-high 14 rebounds for his second double-double of the season.

The Pirates won despite missing junior Kadary Richmond (Brooklyn, N.Y.), junior Dre Davis (Indianapolis, Ind.) and senior Tray Jackson (Detroit, Mich.), three players that average at least 7.4 points per game.

How It Happened

In a back and forth first half, Lincoln held onto a two-point lead, 28-26, with 2:45 to play before halftime. The Pirates used the charity stripe to claw their way back into the lead as Samuel made two free throws and Davis made two free throws that gave The Hall the lead following an offensive rebound. A fast break layup converted by graduate student Jamir Harris (North Brunswick, N.J.) gave The Hall a four-point advantage and took a five-point lead into the locker room.

Sparked by junior Femi Odukale (Brooklyn, N.Y.), Seton Hall used a 7-0 run at the start of the second half that gave it its largest lead of the game at 12, 41-29. With the Pirates holding on to a 10-point lead with 12:05 to play, Lincoln nailed a three-point basket that cut its deficit to seven, 51-44, before Dawes responded with a trey of his own that put Seton Hall up by double digits for good.
