LYNCHBURG, Va. -- The Seton Hall women's basketball team is set to visit Liberty on Saturday evening for its penultimate non-conference tilt of the season. The Pirates (8-1) are playing their fourth true road game of the year and their sixth game away from Walsh Gym this year. The contest with the Lady Flames (3-5) can be viewed on ESPN3 via the WatchESPN app and heard on WSOU, 89.5 FM.
Seton Hall and Liberty have never met in their respective program histories. Both teams made the NCAA Tournament a season ago, as the Lady Flames went 26-7 and a staggering 19-1 in Big South league play to advance to their 16th Big Dance over the last 19 seasons. The Pirates have faced only one team from the Big South in program history, a victory over Longwood in the first game of Anthony Bozzella's tenure to open the 2013-14 season.
The Pirates most recently defeated Fordham on Wednesday, 66-54, behind a season-high 26 points from Aleesha Powell (Philadelphia, Pa.). The Hall also got 18 points and four assists from Shakena Richardson (Neptune, N.J.) in the victory, as both starting guards set their Seton Hall-best for points. The Pirates forced 20 turnovers from the Rams and out-scored Fordham 40-14 in the paint in the victory, which saw The Hall erase a seven-point halftime deficit.
