SOUTH ORANGE, N.J. – Seton Hall women's basketball head coach Anthony Bozzella announced today the addition of Katie Armstrong (Collegeville, Pa.) to the program, a graduate transfer from Fairfield University.

Armstrong has one year of eligibility remaining and will play immediately for Seton Hall this fall.

"I'm thrilled to have Katie join us for her graduate year," Bozzella said. "Her addition gives us another highly versatile player, who can score anywhere on the court and rebound at a high level. As talented of a player as she is, she's an even better person. Her work ethic and leadership will be infectious. She comes from a great program at Fairfield where she was coached at a very high level."

Armstrong transfers to The Hall for her graduate year after receiving her undergraduate degree from Fairfield University. A two-time All-MAAC selection, she was a consistent force in the post for the Stags in 2020-21, finishing with a 10.9 scoring average and a team-high 6.6 rebounds. As a junior, the 6-foot-2 forward erupted for a career-high 27 points in a victory over Manhattan. Armstrong has appeared in 93 career games and averaged 10.0 points and 5.1 rebounds for her career. A threat from long-distance, she has drained 69 career three-pointers, but is also a defensive force down low, having recorded 51 career blocks.

Seton Hall hosted Fairfield on Nov. 9, 2019, defeating the Stags, 74-44. Armstrong started and tied for the team lead with nine points and grabbed three rebounds in 30 minutes.

Armstrong is the second impact transfer to join the Pirates this week as the addition of Mississippi State's Sidney Cooks was announced earlier this week. They join a talented Seton Hall team that narrowly missed an NCAA Tournament berth last season, finishing with a 14-7 overall record and placing third in the BIG EAST Conference despite being predicted to finish sixth. The Pirates return three regular starters, including All-Conference First Team selections, Andra Espinoza-Hunter and Lauren Park-Lane.

Well the comments posted about Tony’s extensive use of the transfer portal during his tenure here in discussing the Sidney Cooks commitment were confirmed as Tony adds another transfer in Katie Armstrong , a grad transfer.
