The Hall wins its third team title in its last four tournaments as David Lally shoots a career-best 4-under-par.
HAMILTON, N.Y. – Junior David Lally (Wicklow, Ireland) finished second among 100 individuals to lift the Seton Hall men's golf team to a share of the Alex Lagowitz Memorial title on Sunday.
Lally collected his second-straight sub-par round to pace the Pirates on Sunday. The junior used three birdies to fuel a 1-under-par, 71, in round two. For the tournament, Lally tied for second at 5-under-par with a 68-71-139. He finished only one stroke behind the individual champion, Villanova's Ryan Pamer.
It's Lally's first career sub-par tournament and second career top-5 finish. His 5-under-par finish is a career-low.
As a team, The Hall shaved nine strokes off its first-round score and recorded the best second round of the field, a 6-under-par, 282. The Pirates, who entered the day tied for third, hopped Yale and finished in a tie with Navy for the team title. There was no playoff and the teams were declared co-champions. For the tournament, The Hall was 3-under-par with a 291-282-573.
It's the second time in three years that The Hall has won the team title at the Alex Lagowitz Memorial. It's also Seton Hall's third team victory in its last four tournaments.
Patrick Kahanek (San Antonio, Texas) had a remarkable effort on Sunday with a 4-under-par, 68, to vault up the individual leader board. The senior shaved nine strokes off his first-round score and finishes in a tie for 12th place overall with a 1-over-par, 77-68-145. His remarkable round was fueled by five birdies and a hole-in-one on the par-3, No. 2 hole.
Sophomore Eli Shah (Newtown Square, Pa.) had five birdies on Sunday in route to a 1-under-par, 71. For the tournament, Shah tied for 19th place with a career-low 2-over-par, 75-71-146.
George Fricker (Woodbridge, England) had two birdies and 14 pars in round two on his way to an even-par, 72. For the two-day event, he tied for 23rd place with a 3-over-par, 75-72-147.
Senior Joshua Lee (Lantana, Texas) shot a 3-over-par, 75, on Sunday. For the tournament, he tied for 36th place with a 5-over-par, 74-75-149.
Sophomore Isaiah Williams (Flemington, N.J.) shot a 6-over-par, 78, in round two. For the event, he was 8-over-par with a 74-78-152.
The Hall also brought four additional golfers to Hamilton, N.Y. to compete as individuals.
Senior Angus O'Brien (Barwon Heads, Australia) had his best tournament since his freshman year. He had six birdies on Sunday in route to a 3-under-par, 69. For the tournament, O'Brien placed eighth with a 1-under-par, 74-69-143. It's his fourth career sub-par tournament and his sixth top-10 finish.
Junior Jack Bosworth (Myrtle Beach, S.C.) carded a 3-over-par, 75, on Sunday. For the event, he tied for 23rd place with a 3-over-par, 72-75-147. Freshman Will Hennessee (Tulsa, Okla.) shaved off one stroke from yesterday to finish with a 1-over-par, 73. He completes his first career tournament also at 3-over-par with a 74-73-147.
Freshman Luke Nolan (Austin, Texas) also completed his first collegiate tournament with a 20-over-par, 80-84-164.
