PJ used to say that February will tell you what kind of team you have. and so far this coach and team have told us they have turned the corner. Last night was not the kind of a game where you take control, and from wire to wire leave no doubt about the outcome. However, there is a growing belief that at some point the Hall will take over and pull it out at he end.It is amazing that they have not lost a game where they had the lead at the half. Willard and the players have found ways to close out the game ,and instead of being on the losing end are currently on a magical ride. With ten games to go I made a Mary Poppins prediction that they would go 8 and 2 and now realize that may be too conservative.LOL.Praise to the staff and all of the players especially Derrick and Angel.

On the offensive end we simply didn't play up to par. IW 3-15, carrington 2-10, Veer 0-5 and we still were in the driver seat most of the game because of hustle. No disrespect to anyone but I haven't seen anyone bring the passion that DG brings every night in a long time. It's the little hustle plays that don't show up in that stat sheet that we are making that used to cost us games. Fun stuff we are watching.

Might want to watch Ish too. An undersized skinny PF who should be over-matched against the players he opposes but is one of the best rebounders and defenders in the conference. Not a bad shot blocker either.

Yeah this is real fun to watch. And I'm with you... Now instead of feeling dread when they go thru a rough patch,i expect them to right the ship and go on a run.
Give the players and Willard and staff their due... This is an entirely different team from last year.
Oh and, can we petition to get DG another year? Lol he has clearly been a leader and a difference maker. Wow. Wished we could have seen him for more than one year.. But one might be enough if it turns out to be one very memorable year...

Ish is clearly becoming a fan favorite for obvious reasons. Maybe it's because DG is involved in so much more, I give him more credit. Ish just out works everyone. Ish is fantastic to watch, but DG IMO is just at another level taking charges, sacrificing his body left and right, diving for 50/50 balls, and you can see DG igniting the passion of his teammates and he will even get the crowd into it at times.

This team is TOUGH. That's the most important takeaway for me right now. We've seen soft, front-running teams. This is not that and it shows in all facets of the team.

Because of that they will exorcise all the demons of the past few years. Refreshing.

To continue this "toughness" and "motor" discussion.

Has anyone noticed how many times our players (Ish, Nzei, IW, Desi) try to block shots on fast breaks?

I'm not talking about the shots that are actually blocked... We just straight up attack the basket no matter what the situation (OReb, DReb, Driving, Block Shots).

Intense.

Part of the reason why our offense looked "ugly" last night is because Georgetown, for all of its flaws, is an excellent defensive team and they were playing with that intensity which is the byproduct of desperation.
