Politi and Seton Hall

he didnt take shots at the practice facility. he was not close to being as negative as much of this board.
Who was the NSL reporter in the early 90's who followed the team?Lucci?

He wrote a stinging article saying the coaching staff/administration was covering up problems created by the players off the court.Including fathering children out of wedlock.

I'm pretty sure PJ went nuts and wouldn't allow him near the team for some time if ever.

Fwiw, the petty folks On the Banks denied my media credential request for tomorrows game with a long copy/paste message dumping on independent media being INELIGIBLE (their caps) and practically told me to go screw myself.
As a result I feel zero sympathy for Mr Politi, and as mentioned multiple times, his outlet is represented by Zags on this call as they are paying him as a freelancer to cover SHU who like it or not, gets the highest level of access along with Jerry. Politi trying to swoop in when we’re in our worst OOC stretch in forever is bad faith and he would do nothing but throw bombs.

I wasn’t invited to that call either for the record, but i likely would not have been able to attend anyway.
Rutgers basketball SID demied you a credential?

Peter Long is a friend and I'd be surprised if this originated with him.

FWIW, Peter's dad, a Seton Hall grad, worked in a similar position at SHU years ago and was also employed by the Star-Ledger for many years.

I'd think Peter would understand what a bad look this is even if the NSL is a crushed shell of its former self.

I find it sad that we are denying credentials for a conference call to anybody although it seems par for the course for us these days. Similarly, it's disappointing that RU denied StreamPunk a credential given there can't be that much media demand for this game.

I guess if we can't win games, we can at least control the narrative.

Correct. "Credentials will NOT be issued to independent outlets and freelance media members" was one line of the exact verbiage in their denial copy/pasta.

Peter actually reached out to me the other day to ask if I was going and I confirmed that I applied and they denied, he did say he heard the RAC has very tight space for media. When I was there for the Non-Public High School state championships back in March (NJSIAA denied my credential there too) I looked around to try and see their setup and where press sat. I just bought a ticket (General Admission) and sat two rows behind the South champs bench and I got way better view of the game and pics/videos then if I had gotten a credential and sat in the press pod in the 200 section, so Peter's assessment tracks. Oddly enough, it reaffirmed my assessment of Finneran Pavilion (which I've been to multiple times for women's games, and hopefully again on Tuesday). The Pavilion is what the RAC wishes it could be. Small place with weird lopsided setup...and a press section in the second level. It is however WAY nicer since Villanova renovated it. The RAC remains a pit with a fresh coat of paint on it and an upgraded video screen. At least they finally replaced that 1975 incandescent bulb scoreboard within the past 10 years or so since the last time I had been in that place.

Our Plan B for today for Stream Punk? Ernesto our photographer is going to Walsh to shoot the women's game at 1. I'm ok with not making a long drive and just running a live commentary show during the RU game (Think of a "Manning-cast" style). Comments are encouraged to be part of the chat, just please keep it a bit cleaner than the game threads here.

Currently I have one other one joining me on screen for the first half and a current SHU student for the second half, trying to round up 1-2 more for backup.

Denying credentials is pretty understandable, particularly at an arena. There are a lot of independent/non-traditional media people out there. Way more than you would think. It becomes an impossible task to grade them in terms of legitimacy, so easiest thing to do is to deny.
