The kid had a very good game today in the St John’s win over UConn...18 points, 6 assists, 3 steals, 4 rebounds, 1 blocked shot and some tenacious defense. Shot 6 of 11 from the floor, 3 of 5 from three.
With all due respect to our two freshmen —one of whom did not even make it to the floor the other day while our walk-on did— our current recruiting class has contributed absolutely nothing to our success. The old line that “well you can’t expect much from a freshman” rings quite hollow right now.
Make no mistake, I am happy with our season to date and optimistic that we can make some hay in our upcoming games against quality opposition. But this past recruiting harvest —compounded by Aiken’s unfortunate injuries—cannot be repeated. Fortunately, we appear to have some very good players coming next year...and I sure hope they get plenty of court time.
