I know some "insiders" on this board say we have a great shot, but I don't see us listed
PG Posh Alexander is Hot in EYBL
As one of the hottest prospects on the Nike EYBL circuit so far this AAU season 5'11" guard
has done just about everything to help lift the NY Lightning to an 8-4 start, with one more EYBL session coming up this weekend as the hopes to carry them a Peach Jam berth.
While everyone looks at Alexander as a future star who has the ability already to nearly do it all even Alexander admits that sometimes it's a lot to handle. He has embraced the role as floor general and leader but says at times it can be tough.
"I definitely embrace it but yeah at the same time it's been hard because if anything goes wrong with my team it's on me and I have to take it because I'm the leader," Alexander explained. "I have learned to like that though because it makes me want to be better and make my team better."
At the same time while Alexander is learning to become a leader at his young age, he is also doing what he can to continue taking his game to the next level. He has gone from a player who was as athletically gifted as anyone, to a player who isn't just athletic, but a dominant shooter who has been rock solid off the dribble pulling up in the midrange making him one of the top guards in the Nike EYBL.
Already holding offers from St. John's, Illinois, Penn State, and Dayton, Alexander says he has begun to hear a lot more from other schools, specifically naming West Virginia, Notre Dame, Louisville and UConn when asked on Sunday where he played in the iS8 Spring Classic with Beacon Elite.
With that game behind him Alexander says his mind now has gone completely to this coming weekend in Hampton, VA where he hopes to confidently lead the Lightning to the prestigious Nike Peach Jam. He feels his team has come a long way this spring and has become a team who can contend for a title, and Alexander is hoping to keep proving those who doubted him and the Lightning wrong.
"As a team we go out and play hard, that's the main thing. I know a lot of people didn't really think this kind of play was possible for us so I'm enjoying proving people wrong and looking forward to keeping that going next weekend and the rest of the summer."
